Jon Jones Opens as Heavy Favorite Over Thiago Santos

• Jon Jones is looking for the 10th successful defense of his light heavyweight title

UFC 239 – also known as International Fight Week –  is set to feature Jon Jones putting his light heavyweight title on the line when he takes on Thiago Santos. It will be Santos’ first time fighting for UFC gold, and the first time he headlines a pay-per-view.

Jones, on the other hand, has fought for the title numerous times and has headlined massive cards frequently. With that, arguably the greatest fighter of all-time is the massive favorite over Santos. According to sportsbooks, Jones is currently a -600 favorite while Santos is a +400 underdog.

Now, there is no question that Jones should win this fight. He has been dominant in all his fights except for the first Alexander Gustafsson fight. But Jones has yet to face someone with legitimate knockout power like Santos. All the Brazilian has done since moving up in weight is knock his opponents out.

Santos made the move to light heavyweight permanent in September where he TKO’d Eryk Anders, then knocked out Jimi Manuwa in December, followed by another TKO win in February of Jan Blachowicz. Santos has proven he can knock anybody out, and with the weird kicks and punches he throws, it is possible he catches Jones and can knock him out too.

There is no question Santos is the hardest hitter Jones has faced, and a style of opponent many have hoped Jones would face. In the end, Jones should very well win this fight, but at +400 it is worth putting a few dollars down on Santos and seeing if he can catch “Bones” and knock him out. If he does, he will make betters a lot of money and shock the world.
