LeBron James is a Sixer. The 41-year-old announced Friday that he’s signing a two-year, $8 million contract in Philadelphia, ending the longest-running story of the NBA offseason.

Cleveland, Golden State, Miami and Minnesota all took their shot at him. Philadelphia won out, and James said he believes he can help make the Sixers a championship team.

Sportsbooks agreed in a hurry. The 76ers championship odds moved within minutes of the announcement, and Philly is now fourth on the board for 2026-27.

Philadelphia’s +950 price carries a 9.5% implied probability. Oklahoma City and San Antonio sit on top as co-favorites, and the defending champion Knicks are the only other team ahead of the Sixers.

Only 50 points separate Philly from New York, so the market sees almost nothing between them. OKC still has Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren, while the Spurs rode Victor Wembanyama to the Finals last June before losing to the Knicks in five.

How the 76ers Championship Odds Got Here

BetMGM posted its 2027 NBA championship odds back in mid-June, and Philly opened at +6000. That was 12th in the league, nowhere near the contender tier.

Then came the Jaylen Brown trade. Philadelphia shipped Paul George and two first-rounders to Boston, and the number dropped to +2000 and fifth on the board.

LeBron took care of the rest. A 60-1 shot six weeks ago is now under 10-1, and no roster in the league gained more this summer.

76ers Eastern Conference Odds

Philly is a close second in the Eastern Conference odds at +400, behind only New York. The Knicks won the franchise’s first title since 1973 last season and bring back most of that group.

Boston sits third at +500 after dealing Brown away. The Celtics did address the frontcourt by signing center Mitchell Robinson away from the Knicks.

Detroit won 60 games last year, most in the conference, and still can’t do better than fourth. Toronto is fifth at +800 with the Kawhi Leonard trade still waiting on league approval. Miami, meanwhile, came away empty in the LeBron chase at +1200.

76ers Atlantic Division Odds

The two-horse race gets even tighter in the division. New York is +175 and Philadelphia is +200, so there isn’t much daylight between them.

Boston at +275 is the only other club on this board under 7-1. The Raptors need that Leonard deal to go through to have any say here, and Brooklyn brings up the rear at +50000.

Where the 76ers Championship Odds Go From Here

A starting five of Embiid, Maxey, Brown, VJ Edgecombe and LeBron can hang with anybody in the East. Landing a four-time champion for two years and $8 million doesn’t hurt either.

Anyone who likes this team should know that +950 is about as long as the price gets. Barring an injury to Embiid or James, the number figures to keep shortening between now and opening night.

Waiting for training camp cuts both ways. A setback in Philly would push the price back out, but that’s a rough thing to hope for when the roster is this healthy on paper.
