Golden State Warriors (-12.5, 232.5 o/u) at Minnesota Timberwolves
After having their worst offensive game of the season on Saturday, the Golden State Warriors (62-7, 30-7 Away) are eager to jump back on the court tonight when they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves (22-47, 11-22 Home) at the Target Center in Minneapolis (7:00 PM Eastern).
Golden State was held to a season-low 79 points on Saturday in an 87-79 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Steph Curry went 4 of 18 from the field and 1 of 12 from three, scoring just 14 points on the night.
The team played without Andre Iguodala (sprained ankle) and Andrew Bogut (strained left toe). Bogut’s absence was particularly noticeable as the Warriors couldn’t compete with the size of the Spurs down low.
Bogut is listed as doubtful for tonight’s game; Iguodala will be out indefinitely.
“This is the NBA, injuries happen,” coach Steve Kerr said to the Associated Press. “They got us in the paint, and we didn’t make enough threes. But that’s the way it goes, we’ll make [them] next time.”
The young Timberwolves have a great core to build around, but are still doing just that: building. The team is just 11-22 straight up and 11-21-1 against the spread at home this season and sit third-last in the Western Conference.
Minnesota dropped its last game, 116-111, to the Houston Rockets, dropping them to 3-7 over the past ten. Behind Andrew Wiggins (20.6 PPG) and Karl-Anthony Towns (17.9 PPG), the T-Wolves have a respectable offense (101.7 PPG) – especially when point guard Ricky Rubio is healthy and distributing – but they’re still trying to figure it out on D. They’ve given up an average of 105.7 points per game, 24th in the league. Facing the highest scoring team in the league after a loss could only mean things will get ugly.
This will be the second of three meetings between Warriors and Wolves this season. Golden State won the first in November, 129-116. The loss dropped Minny to 3-10 ATS in its last 13 home games against Golden State. The Wolves have also dropped five in a row SU to the Warriors at home.
Pick: Warriors (-12.5).
