It’s been a solid and consistently strong start to the season for the Chicago Bulls.

Their opponent Thursday night, the New York Knicks, are doing everything they can to try and get to that level.

It makes for an interesting battle at MSG, as the Bulls look for a second straight win against their Eastern Conference foe on the year.

Tip-off goes at 7:30pm ET, and the game can be seen live on NBA TV.

The Bulls, who currently sit second in the East, are slight 2-point favorites in this one.

Bulls Swat Hornets

It hasn’t been a great recent stretch for the Bulls, who had lost three of their last four before taking out a very good Charlotte Hornets team last time out in a 133-119 win.

Nikola Vucevic, who’s been up and down most of the campaign, put down a season-high 30 on 12-for-19 shooting. He also added 14 rebounds, five assists and a pair of blocks. The big man drilled a perfect 6-for-6 from downtown.

It was business as usual for Chicago’s dynamic scoring duo. DeMar DeRozan had 28 points, five rebounds and six assists, while Zach LaVine finished with 25 points, six rebounds and five assists.

The Bulls are in an elite class of teams that rank in the top 10 in both offensive and defensive rating on the season. The other teams are a who’s who of hoops royalty in 2021-22: the Warriors, Suns, Nets and Jazz.

Chicago holds teams to 104.6 points a night, which ranks seventh in the league.

Knicks Fall Short to Brooklyn

Maybe the Knicks fell 112-110 to the Nets on Tuesday night, but Tom Thibodeau is hoping that his recent roster adjustment will soon bring true dividends.

It was New York’s first game since it was announced Kemba Walker would be moved off the starting lineup and the rotation altogether, with Alec Burks stepping into the nominal point guard role.

Burks did his thing, scoring a team-best and season-high 25 points on 9-for-21 shooting, adding five rebounds and five assists. Julius Randle had a great line, but a frustrating night.

While he scored 24 points and added nine rebounds and eight assists, he took issue with the way he was being called, with his size and strength working against him in the loss. Randle attempted just two free throws all night.

Derrick Rose returned from a three-game absence from an ankle injury and provided a spark, scoring 16 points and nine assists in 35 big minutes off the bench.

The Knicks are hoping this new-look can eventually get them back to the team that was balling to start they year: they went the entire month of November without posting back-to-back wins.

Bulls vs Knicks Pick

New York should have RJ Barrett (illness) back in the lineup after he sat out against the Nets. This will be the third meeting between the two teams this year, with New York sneaking by the Bulls 104-103 on October 28, as part of their 5-1 run to the start the season.

Chicago leveled up on Nov 21, taking down the visiting Knicks 109-103. The MSG floor matters here, as the Bulls are just 1-5 ATS when visiting New York, and 3-7 ATS in their last 10.

Both previous meetings have been pretty tight slug fests, with both not jumping over this projected total. It’s a wager worth revisiting, as New York, even tied for 15th in points allowed, is still surrendering only 106.4 a contest.

The Pick: UNDER 214 (-110)
