  • Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are both off the injury report for the Clippers
  • Below you’ll find the available Clippers vs Magic odds, plus injury news and predictions

All of a sudden, the Clippers (14-11, 7-5 away) look like a team you don’t want to face. The Magic (5-20, 4-9 home) on the other hand, have to be one of the most coveted matchups for opposing squads.

Kawhi Leonard and Paul George returned to LA’s lineup on Monday, leading the Clips to a dramatic victory in Charlotte. Online sportsbooks expect another LA win on Wednesday in the NBA odds, as they’ll look to hand Orlando a 10th straight defeat.

LA Clippers Betting Analysis

Leonard was the catalyst in LA’s win on Monday, knocking down the game winning shot in the dying seconds to sink the Hornets. The two-time Finals MVP was playing for the first time in seven games due to a sprained ankle, after missing 14 games earlier in the season because of knee issues.

Not only was it Leonard’s first game back, but Paul George also returned from a seven-game absence due to a hamstring strain. George finished with a team-high 19 points and seven assists, while the Clippers improved to 4-1 in the five games they’ve played together this season.

Ever since Kawhi and PG-13 arrived in LA together, the Clippers have been nearly unbeatable when they’ve both suited up. The problem is, that hasn’t happened nearly enough. LA was won just shy of 70% of the games where they’ve shared the court together, posting outrageous offensive and defensive splits.

They’ve outscored their opponents by 30 points in the 93 minutes they’ve played alongside each other this season, and prior to Monday night, they’d posted a defensive efficiency rating of 85.6, which is 21 points better than the best defensive team in the league (Milwaukee).

Kawhi and PG-13 may be off the injury report for now, but LA will be missing several players on Wednesday. John Wall (knee),  Marcus Morris (illness), Norman Powell (groin) and Luke Kennard (injury management) will all sit.

Orlando Magic Betting Analysis

It’s looking bleak these days in Orlando, despite having Paolo Banchero. The former Duke star is a heavy favorite in the NBA Rookie of the Year odds, but his emergence has been one of the few bright spots.

Banchero is averaging 21.7 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists per game, and has made the transition from the college level to the pros look seamless. He forms a solid young core of Magic players alongside the Wagner brothers and Jalen Suggs, however they’re simply not deep enough or strong enough defensively to compete versus quality opposition.

Orlando went 4-11 in the month of November, after starting the season 1-6. Their current nine-game skid has all come against Eastern Conference teams occupying a playoff spot, and most of the results haven’t been that close. Just one of the defeats was within one possession, while five of the nine losses were by double-digits.

The Magic rank 27th in both defensive and offensive rating, and last in wins. They have the third worst point differential in the league, while only four teams have fared worse against the spread.

Clippers vs Magic Prediction

Orlando has covered in only three of their past eight games, while totalling 108 points or less in all but one of the contests during their nine-game slide. Not surprisingly, a large portion of those games have failed to reach the total. The under is 8-5-1 in the Magic’s last 14 outings, and scoring will be extremely tough to come by against LA.

NBA Defensive Rating Stats

Rank Team Defensive Rating
1. Milwaukee Bucks 106.7
2. Cleveland Cavaliers 106.7
3. New Orleans Pelicans 108.0
4. Philadelphia 76ers 109.5
5. LA Clippers 109.8

The Clippers rank fifth in defensive rating and fourth in opponent field goal percentage. We outlined earlier how much better defensively they are when Leonard and George are on the floor together, so keep in mind those impressive season-long numbers have been compiled with Kawhi and PG-13 out for a combined 27 games.

LA is a league-high 17-8 to the under this season, and with their top-two stars back should have no problem shutting down Orlando.

Pick: Under 219.5 (-110)
