  • The Los Angeles Clippers head to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York for a battle with the Nets at 7:30 PM EST on Tuesday, Feb 2nd
  • This is a star-studded event as James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Kevin Durant will all be in action
  • See the player props available below

Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and the Los Angeles Clippers will get their first shot of the season at Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden on Tuesday night. The Clippers are coming in hot after winning 10 of their last 11 games.

James Harden will be back tonight after missing Sunday’s 149-146 loss to the Washington Wizards. Harden missed the game due to a left thigh bruise, but is apparently healthy enough to play tonight.

The Clippers have dominated this series winning four of the last five matchups but it was the Nets taking the last one 129-120 back on August 9th, 2020. In this matchup, the Clippers are favored by 1.5 points and there are plenty of player props to consider.

Odds taken Feb. 2nd from FanDuel

Kawhi Leonard Can Make It Rain

As good as the Nets are offensively, they are a train wreck on defense. In fact, only one team in the NBA is worse in the defensive efficiency metric. On top of the bad defense, they play at the fifth fastest pace in the league, which puts point totals in play in terms of player props. The first one that deserves our attention is Kawhi Leonard.

Leonard needs no introduction as he is a bonafide superstar in the league. He’s taking almost 20 shots a game and he is hitting more than half of them. The Clippers play at a slower pace than the Nets, so we are looking at a pace up spot here. It would not be surprising to see Leonard take a few extra shots tonight given the pace and opponent.

Another place Leonard can score from is the free throw line. He is currently hitting 91.8% of his free attempts which is a career high mark. The Nets are in the lower third of the NBA in opponent free throws allowed per game at 23.3. Just last game they put the Wizards on the line 32 times which is in line with their last three game average of 31.3.

The Nets have given up at least 125 points in each of their last three games, which is 10 more than the Clippers score on a normal night. Brooklyn themselves haven’t scored less than 132 points in that span. This game looks to be one played at an elevated pace with little to no defense being played. If that happens, Leonard could easily go for 30+ points.

The Pick: Kawhi Leonard Over 27.5 Points (-106)

Paul George Can Score Too

The Clippers are not a one-trick pony in the scoring column. Leonard has been great but it’s hard to say Paul George hasn’t been just as good. He’s hitting career highs in field goal percentage as well as three-point percentage. He is also hitting 91.3% of his free throws which is also a career high.

Given the pace of this game, George could approach the 20 shot attempt mark tonight. His scoring numbers fluctuate on a night to night basis given that he takes so many three-pointers but he is hitting a career-best 45% on the season.

The Nets are coming off of a game where they allowed Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal score 41 and 37 points respectively. There’s no reason to think they will be able to stop Leonard and George from hitting their numbers.

The Pick: Paul George Over 24.5 Points (-108)
