LeBron James and Anthony Davis assumed the rule of super-charged role players in a Game 1 win of their opening round series with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Do they ascend back to their all-NBA stature as the Lakers look to take a 2-0 stranglehold in this best-of-7 series?

The NBA odds are picking the visiting Lake Show as 1-point favorites, and -115 favorites on the moneyline, an implied win probability of 53.49%.

Those numbers hinge on the status of one very important Memphis player — more on that below.

Lakers vs Grizzlies Game 2 Odds

Lakers vs Grizzlies Betting Preview

Bettors will have to wait to see if Ja Morant is going to suit up – and his status could shake up the West’s NBA playoff bracket.

The electric guard landed hard on his hand on a drive in the fourth quarter and didn’t return. X-rays returned negative, though an MRI Monday revealed an aggravation of soft tissue bruising in his hand. He’s officially listed as questionable and is a game-time decision.

Without Morant, the Grizzlies could not stop the onslaught of the Lakers, who, after trailing 101-98 in the fourth quarter, ripped off a 30-11 run to win 128-112 and take a 1-0 series lead. LA ended the game scoring 15 straight points.

Surprisingly, it was the Lakers’ supporting cast that closed this one out. Rui Hachimura led the team with 29 points and six rebounds, drilling 5-for-6 from three-point range. Austin Reaves dropped 14 4th-quarter points, finishing with 23, three rebounds and four dimes.

Anthony Davis was a force all night, finishing with 22 points, 12 boards, three steals and seven blocks, while LeBron had 21 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. It’s the first time four Lakers had 20+ in the same playoff game since Magic, Kareem, Byron Scott and Worthy.

James (foot), Davis (foot) and Dennis Schroder (Achilles) were all on the injury report, but are listed as probable Wednesday.

Jaren Jackson Jr had a game-high 31 points, with five rebounds, four assists and two blocks to lead Memphis. Desmond Bane had 22 points, five boards and six dimes, while Ja had 18 points before going down.

LA vs Memphis Same-Game Parlay

With Morant potentially out, we’re banking on a big night from Bane, who would slide into the top offensive option. He’s one of four picks we’re targeting for Same-Game Parlay that offers +1000 odds. A $10 bet could win you a cool $100 in profit.

Lakers vs Grizzlies Game 2 Same-Game Parlay

Pick Odds
Austin Reaves OVER 15.5 points +100
LeBron James OVER 5.5 assists -155
Dillon Brooks UNDER 13.5 points +115
Desmond Bane OVER 24.5 points +100
Same-Game Parlay Odds +1000

After back-to-back 12-point outings, Austin Reaves got back to the business of filling it up. With his 23-point performance Sunday, the 2nd-year man has gone for at least 16 points in six of his last nine outings.

LeBron James hasn’t had to go into takeover mode yet, and his confidence in this re-tooled roster means he gets to do what he claims he loves best: getting his teammates great looks. King James has tallied at least six dimes in seven of his last eight games and should be around that number again.

The job of guarding LeBron falls on Dillon Brooks’ shoulders. That responsibility is eventually going to sap him of his offensive juice. It was a so-so Game 1 for the Grizz’ wing, as Brooks finished with 15 points but on a lowly 38.5% shooting.

Lakers vs Grizzlies Prediction

The Grizzlies have not been a great bet of late, going just 1-5 against the spread in their last six. However, they are a tough out at FedEx, with an NBA-best 35-6 mark in the regular season, and a 23-18-1 mark ATS.

Los Angeles wasn’t a great road bet, going 20-21-1 ATS this season, and just 5-4 ATS as a road favorite.

Forget the numbers here, though, as the James-Anthony tandem steps up in a smell-blood moment.

Pick:

  • Lakers -1 (-110); 1.5 units to win 1.36 units
  • NBA Postseason Record: 0-1 ATS; 1-3 o/u; 0-1 ML; -6.14 units
