Charlotte Hornets vs NY Knicks Odds and Picks
- The New York Knicks seek a 6th-straight home win as they host the Charlotte Hornets
- Charlotte had their 4-game win streak snapped by the lowly Orlando Magic
- Odds and matchups can be found below with a prediction
The New York Knicks have worked their way into the 10th and final play-in position in the East.
A win Monday over the Charlotte Hornets at home — where they’ve made hay as of late — would help them stay there.
Charlotte should be a feisty bunch, however, after their 4-game win streak came to a halt in a loss to the lowly Magic.
The Hornets, who sit in seventh in the East, are 1.5-point road underdogs in this MLK Day-matinee at MSG.
It all tips off at 1pm ET. The game can be seen live on NBA TV.

Charlotte Hornets Outlook
The Hornets are coming off a disappointing 116-109 loss to Orlando, who had lost 10 straight and totaled just seven wins on the year.
Considering their last three wins were against the 76ers and the defending champion Bucks twice, this was a missed opportunity to work their way out of the play-in spot they currently occupy.

LaMelo Ball led the way with 23 points, eight assists, four rebounds and four steals, while Miles Bridges was the only other Hornet to crack the 20 points, finishing with 20, three rebounds and three assists.
Charlotte couldn’t get it cooking from downtown: the 3rd-best 3-point shooting team in the NBA, the Hornets were a bleak 12-for-42, a 28.6% clip. Terry Rozier had 19 points, but was only 4-for-15 from deep.

The Hornets’ season has been a success so far, powered by an offense that ranks second in the league at 114.9 points per game. That’s a major bump from a year ago, when they were 23rd at 109.5 per game.
However, they also happen to be the second-worst scoring defense, surrendering 115.5 per game. Only the Houston Rockets allow more.
New York Knicks Outlook
After a rough start to the year, the Knicks appear to have found their footing. They’ve reeled off three straight wins, and they enter this one looking for their sixth straight win at home.

They won 117-108 last time out in Atlanta Saturday night. RJ Barrett led the team with 26 points, adding five rebounds and three assists. It’s the fourth straight game he’s led the team in scoring.
Julius Randle chipped in with 24 points, nine rebounds and five assists, and all five Knicks starters finished in double digit scoring. The win put New York over the .500 mark for the first time since Dec 2.
Love him or hate him. Cheer him or boo him.

The Knicks are polar opposites to their opponents Monday: New York is tied for fifth-best in scoring defense, surrendering just 104.6 points per game. However, they’re just 26th in scoring, putting up only 107 points per game.
In fact, despite a nice 7-3 run in their last 10, the Knicks are averaging just 99.8 points per game, shooting 43.8% from the field and 35.1% from deep.
Hornets vs Knicks Prediction
Kemba Walker (knee) is a game-time decision for Monday. Newly acquired Cam Reddish (ankle) is still about a week away from making his Knicks’ debut. Nerlens Noel will also miss the game with a knee injury.
Charlotte is relatively healthy, with only Kelly Oubre on the COVID list.
This is the second meeting of the season between these two teams, as the Hornets won 104-96 at home. Charlotte owns the fourth-best ATS mark in the NBA at 26-17-0, but are just 12-13 ATS on the road. The Knicks are just 10-12 ATS at home.
Prior to the Atlanta win, the Knicks had held their last three opponents to under 100. I think they will be able to impose their defensive will on the Hornets, who have averaged just 108.8 points in their last four outings.
The Pick: Under 217 points (-110)
