The NBA schedule is packed on Sunday January 10th 2021. Eight games are due to tip-off, starting with the Utah Jazz and Detroit Pistons. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George’s Clippers face the Chicago Bulls, LeBron James’ Lakers take on James Harden and the Houston Rockets and there’s a rematch of the 2019 NBA Finals with the Raptors and Warriors going head-to-head to wrap up the night.

Attention on player props betting is inevitable with so many of the league’s biggest names expected to take the court.

Bogdanovic Breaks Out Of Slump

His early season numbers are not pretty, but there’s a strong case that Bojan Bogdanovic is the most underrated player in the NBA. The Utah Jazz forward averaged 20 per game last season and is a career 39.3% three-point shooter. His 12 points per game on 36.4% from the field in the first few games of this season is not an accurate reflection of his talent. Bogdanovic is taking slightly fewer shots (14.3 per 36 compared to 16.2 last season), and the Jazz are being careful with his minutes after a major injury.

There are signs of encouragement in his shot profile. Bogdanovic is taking a higher percentage of his shots from the corner. There are fewer long twos and he’s still getting to the rim often enough given his role alongside Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert. Uncharacteristically poor shooting at the rim and from three is what has led to a poor start – Bogdanovic’s attempts at the cup are falling only 40% of the time, which is 19% lower than his previous career-worst. He’s hitting 32% of his corner threes (again, by far a career-worst).

To put it simply, Bogdanovic is a better player than he has shown this season. Utah’s offense has been above-average, and they face a Detroit teams which ranks 25th in defensive rating. Bogdanovic has played through some rust, but he looked to be finding some rhythm in the win over the Bucks – he’s a good bet for over 15.5.

Steph The Playmaker

Nick Nurse and the Toronto Raptors threw the box and one at Steph Curry in the 2019 Finals. In a similar situation as by far the best offensive player on the team, Nurse is going to be as aggressive in trying to stop Curry. The two-time MVP is second in the NBA in scoring off the back of a 38-point night against the Clippers.

In the four games since Draymond Green had his minutes restriction essentially removed, the Warriors are sixth in offense, eighth in defense, and second in net rating, per cleaning the glass.

Given an average of 30.6 and how he has played of late, betting Curry’s points over is reasonable. Against a Raptors defense which will do all it can to take the ball out of his hands, though, it’s the assists line that is most interesting. The 6.5 seems fair given his average of 6.8 for the season, yet Curry has gone over that mark in two of the last three and recorded 11 in the win over the Clippers.

Curry’s pick-and-roll chemistry with James Wiseman is developing every game. As good as Toronto is defensively, they have no one who can come close to Wiseman’s athleticism. After a brutal start to the season, Andrew Wiggins has started hitting shots. Damion Lee and Kent Bazemore have been lights out from three, and Eric Pashcall has come into his own since dropping to the bench.

The Warriors offense is much more than Curry’s scoring. He has demonstrated his ability (still somehow underrated) as a playmaker. Toronto has the perimeter defenders to stop Curry getting to the basket, but the three-time champion possesses the vision and playmaking to pick out his teammates. Over 6.5 assists seems an obvious bet.
