The NBA is back Thursday night with a four-pack which is plenty to keep bettors busy. Especially prop bettors.
One game that should offer a ton of value in the prop market will be the Portland Trail Blazers visiting the Houston Rockets. Both teams’ rotations are experiencing a shake up due to injuries and a trade, causing confusion for sports books in the prop market.
The Trail Blazers-Rockets game is part of a TNT doubleheader, followed by the Golden State Warriors visiting the Phoenix Suns.

Christian Wood is Back
Christian Wood is the frontrunner for the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award and for good reason. Wood’s previous career best averages in points and rebounds were 13, and six, respectively, but those totals have swelled to 23 and 10 this season. He has been on the shelf with a sprained ankle for the past three games but he says he is 100% and ready to play tonight.

Wood has been a double-double machine this season, recording seven in twelve games. Not only is he crossing the double-digit barrier in points, he is getting into the 20s on a nightly basis. In fact, he has failed to reach 20 points in only one game this season. He is turning into an absolute beast right in front of our eyes.

The Trail Blazers are not bad at defending the paint but they aren’t great either. They are currently giving up 46 points in the paint per game, which ranks them 15th in the NBA in that metric.
Portland is coming a game where they gave up 16 points to Isaiah Roby and 19 to Darius Bazley, and neither played more than 28 minutes. Enes Kanter has been forced into extended minutes since the Jusuf Nurkic injury and he is not much of a defender. Christian Wood scores almost 60% of his points from the painted area so he should score his normal allotment of points tonight.

Nicolas Batum Looks to Bounce Back
With Kawhi Leonard and Paul George sitting out, bettors are forced to guess as to which remaining Clippers will soak up the usage. Obviously Serge Ibaka and Reggie Jackson figure to be more involved, but one player that is likely to score more is Nicolas Batum. He is averaging close to 10 points per game this season, but has only played one without both George and Leonard.

Batum scores 60% of his points from behind the arc and that could come in handy tonight. He has taken five three-pointers in each of the last two games but only hit one in each contest. Those games were against the Hawks and Thunder who are both in the top five in the NBA in opponent three-point percentage.
Tonight, Batum and the Clippers get the short-handed Heat who struggle defending the arc, allowing opponents to hit at a 37.4% rate. If Batum can get into a rhythm early, he is likely to see a few more shots tonight and could go over his point total in the first half.
