The Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets will face off in Game 5 on Tuesday, August 25th, tip-off 6:30 PM EST. The Nuggets got off to a solid start in this series with a win, but since, Utah has taken charge, winning the last three contests.

Game 4 was a close one, with the Jazz winning by just two points. A 51-point effort for Donovan Mitchell proved to be the difference for Quin Snyder’s team, while Jamal Murray also dropped 50 for Denver in the loss.

After three consecutive wins, the latest Utah Jazz vs Denver Nuggets Odds are favoring the Jazz to win the series and advance after Game 5.

Can Utah Finish off the Series?

The Jazz have looked dominant ever since their Game 1 defeat, even winning by 37 points in Game 3. That game showed their full potential as Rudy Gobert, Mitchell, and Mike Conley Jr. all had 20+ points in the win.

Game 4 was a hard-fought victory, with Mitchell absolutely taking over with 51 points. That was his second 50+ performance of the playoffs, becoming just the fourth player ever to complete the feat more than once in a single postseason. Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson, and Wilt Chamberlain are the only others on the list.

Down the stretch, Mitchell was clutch for the Jazz, scoring 18 points in the final quarter. He shot 55.6% from the field, while also sinking 94% of his free throws. In the series, the Utah star is averaging 39.5 points per game.

But Sunday’s win was also a complete team effort, as three other players scored in double digits. Conley dropped 26, while Jordan Clarkson added 24 off the bench. Gobert was also solid, grabbing 11 boards and scoring 17 points. The Jazz have looked the part lately and with Mitchell red-hot, they will be looking to finish off this Western Conference Quarterfinal on Tuesday.

Denver Looking to Bounce Back

Since their 10-point win in Game 1, the Nuggets have struggled, especially in the second and third games of this series. Game 2 was a 19-point loss, followed by the 37-point defeat in Game 3.  Utah was able to keep Jamal Murray contained, limiting him to just 26 points between those two contests.

The Canadian guard returned with a phenomenal performance on Sunday, scoring 50 and dishing out seven assists. Nikola Jokic was also productive, collecting 29 points. But with Mitchell and his supporting cast on fire, Denver still lost by just one possession.

Although Game 4 ended in a defeat for the Nuggets, there were a lot of positives to take away. Their two stars in Jokic and Murray played very well. As a team, they shot 39% from downtown and 49% from field goal range.  The supporting cast wasn’t outstanding, but it was a step in the right direction. Down 3-1 though, Game 5 is a must-win for Mike Malone’s squad if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Best Bet

Utah enters this game as three-point favorites, but I do think Denver is going to grab a victory on Tuesday. They’ve been a quality team all year long and two of their three losses in this series simply haven’t reflected who they actually are.

Mitchell will continue to show out, but I do believe Jokic and Murray are both going to have a huge Game 5 and lead the Nuggets to victory. This contest will come down to the wire, but Denver will force a Game 6.

Pick: Denver +3 (-110)
