A pair of two-win teams clash on Saturday night in Orlando, as the Magic (2-7, 2-1 home) host the Kings (2-5, 1-2 away). Orlando is fresh off an impressive victory over the defending champs, while Sacramento just had its two-game winning streak snapped at Miami.

These two teams are separated by just five spots in net rating, with the Kings ranking higher. Oddsmakers however are siding with Orlando in the NBA odds in what projects to be a close matchup.

Sacramento Kings Betting Analysis

De’Aaron Fox left the Kings game on Monday in Charlotte with a knee injury. X-Rays later revealed no structural damage, and that he was dealing with just a knee bruise.

Fox sat out Wednesday’s loss in Miami and is currently listed as day-to-day. He went through light shooting drills this week, but there’s no official word on his status for Saturday. Sacramento was 8-15 without Fox last season, averaging four fewer points per outing when he sat.

Without their leading scorer, the Kings put up a good fight against Miami but fell 110-107. Kevin Huerter and Domantis Sabonis paced the offense with 22 points apiece, while the team shot 48% against a very good Heat defense. The offense hasn’t been an issue for Sacramento this season, as they rank right around league average in scoring and offensive rating.

Defensively, however, has been a bit of a struggle. They rank bottom-10 in defensive rating and eighth worst in points allowed per game. They yielded a 49% field goal percentage to the Heat, while only two teams are worse at defending the three-point line than the Kings.

Orlando Magic Betting Analysis

Orlando’s victory over Golden State was definitely unexpected. The Magic entered play as an 8-point underdog, after losing seven of their first eight contests. Orlando played inspired ball getting double-figure scoring from seven different players, including four of five starters.

Sophomore Jalen Suggs led the way with 26 points, while NBA ROY odds favorite Paolo Banchero poured in 22 points and grabbed eight boards. The Magic shot a blistering 54% from the field and knocked down 43% of their threes. Orlando pulled down 11 more rebounds than Golden State, and despite missing 13 free throws, still got the job done.

Defensively, it wasn’t pretty, but that’s nothing new. The Magic rank 19th in defensive rating and league average in points allowed. They’ve surrendered an average of 120 points per game over their last three outings, while only three teams force fewer turnovers.

On the injury front, Terrence Ross sat out for undisclosed reasons versus the Warriors and is considered day-to-day. Moritz Wagner (foot) and Gary Harris (knee) are not expected to play against Sacramento, while Markelle Fultz (toe) and Cole Anthony (oblique) are dealing with long-term injuries.

Kings vs Magic Prediction

Regardless if Fox plays or not, I think we can safely target the Magic in this spot. They have a major advantage on the glass and in the paint, and we should expect players like Banchero and Wendall Carter Jr. to exploit that.

Orlando ranks top-12 in points in the paint and eighth in total rebounding. The Kings on the other hand, are bottom-seven in rebounding, and allow opposing teams to score inside at the league’s eighth-highest rate.

In a matchup of two teams that project very similarly, give me the home side that’s not dealing with an injury to their most important player.

Pick: Orlando Magic +2 (-110)
