Back on November 6th, Cleveland beat LA 114-100. Prior to that, however, the Lakers won five straight.

Lakers Turning a Corner?

It’s well known that Los Angeles hasn’t enjoyed the best start in 2022-23. But, recent signs point to them turning things around. Anthony Davis is truly playing at an MVP level, Russell Westbrook is flourishing off the bench, and LeBron James is doing his thing. Beating a title-contending Bucks team last Friday was a prime example of the Lakers’ potential this season and they followed it up with another convincing victory in DC.

AD put together his best performance yet as he erupted for a mind-boggling 55 points to lead the charge, also grabbing 17 rebounds and going 22 for 30 from the field. Bron complemented his co-star with 29 points, too. Russ didn’t score a lot here, but his six points and 15 assists were undoubtedly important.

What really stood out was LA’s terrific ball movement which resulted in a 54% clip from the field and 38% from downtown. The biggest issue for the Lakers is their inability to shoot the three but that’s improving lately. They’re draining over 40% of their triples during this unbeaten run. The confidence is high as can be for Darvin Ham’s group at the moment.

Cavs Are Unbeatable at Home

Playing at home is almost always an advantage in the NBA. But no one has taken advantage of it more than Cleveland, who owns a ridiculous 10-1 record at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. This is a fortress for the Cavs.

At 15-9, JB Bickerstaff’s group is one of the top teams in the league, boasting one of the backcourts around in Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland. Spida is averaging over 28 points per night in his debut season with the organization, while Garland is also scoring at a high level and dropping dimes.

However, the offense struggled immensely to get going against a dismal Knicks squad that is by no means strong defensively. Mitchell’s 23 points were about the only bright spot but he wasn’t even efficient. The Cavs shot a brutal 23% from long range and 35% from the field in a forgettable showing. Cleveland will have already turned the page and they’ll need to be ready for the surging Lakers. The Cavs could be without center Jarrett Allen though, who is questionable due to back soreness.

Lakers vs Cavaliers Prediction

It’s hard to not ride the Cavs at home, especially because the Lakers are just 4-6 on the road. That being said, LA is really impressing me at the moment. I think they’re worth an ATS pick here, especially given AD’s recent brilliance. It might not be a win, but I expect them to make it close at the very least.

Pick: Lakers +4.5 (-114)
