Winning streaks be damned, as the NBA odds have the visiting Nets as 2-point road underdogs, in a game that features a total of 220.

Cleveland boasts the NBA’s best home record in the conference at 16-3.

Brooklyn is just one of three teams in the East with a winning road record.

Brooklyn Betting Outlook

Any critics of Brooklyn’s fun-run being made during the soft part of their schedule had to take notice after they smacked the Milwaukee Bucks 118-100 for their eighth straight win.

It was a complete team effort, as Kevin Durant led the way in scoring with 24 points, five rebounds and six assists. Kyrie Irving added 18 points, nine boards and six dimes while Ben Simmons had 12 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and three steals.

The Nets have been lighting up the scoreboard during this streak, scoring at least 118 points in seven of their last eight, averaging 124.3 points per game. BK is shooting a blistering 55% from the field and a lethal 42.8% from three-point range.

Brooklyn held the Bucks to just 44% shooting for the game and a 9-for-37 mark from downtown (24.3%). On they year, they are ninth in defensive scoring, holding teams to 111.1 points per game.

The only injury they’re dealing with currently is to Joe Harris (knee), who won’t feature in Monday’s NBA lineups.

Cleveland Betting Outlook

After a statement win over the Bucks, Cleveland’s 5-game win streak came to an abrupt end when they lost to the 118-107 to the Toronto Raptors. It was just their third home loss on the year, and the first to an Eastern Conference opponent.

Donovan Mitchell, who had led the team in scoring in six straight games, shot just 4-for-16 for 12 pints, five rebounds and four assists. It was his lowest output in the month of December, having previously scored at least 23 points in nine straight games.

Darius Garland led the team in scoring with 17 points, adding eight assists, while Evan Mobley had 10 points and right rebounds.

Cleveland got burned by the three, allowing the Raptors — the worst 3-point shooting team in the league — to hit 19-for-37 from distance, a devastating 51.4% clip.

The 118 points was the second-most they’ve allowed in their last 20. The Cavs actually boast the league’s top scoring defense, surrendering 104.9 points per game.

Nets vs Cavaliers Prediction

This is the first of three meetings between these teams this season. Brooklyn took four of five matchups a season ago, including a 1-game play-in win, but the addition of Mitchell alters the landscape.

Brooklyn has been a a great bet as of late, running a 5-1 record ATS in their last six games. They’ve also gone 6-1 ATS in their last seven on the road against teams with a winning record.

Cleveland has some bounce-back ability in them, as they’re 4-0-2 ATS in their lasts six following a loss. They’re also a solid beat against top teams, going 7-1 ATS in their last eight against teams with a .600 record or better.

The Nets are also 0-4 ATS in their last four in Cleveland.

I’d side with the home team in this one, who’ve posted a +9.1 point differential at Rocket Mortgage, in what should be a terrific matchup.

Pick:

  • Cavaliers -2 (-110); 1 unit to win 0.91 units
  • NBA Betting Record: 18-15 ATS, 1-1 ML, 2-3 o/u, 0-2 parlays; -2.19 units
