They may not have Kevin Durant, but the Brooklyn Nets (31-19. 16-11 away), could be getting other key pieces back in the lineup when they visit the NBA-leading Boston Celtics (36-15, 19-6 home).
Boston has won five straight regular season meetings between these two teams, sandwiched around last year’s first-round playoff sweep.
The Celtics won’t be whole, either, as reigning defensive player of the year Marcus Smart (ankle) is expected to miss his fifth straight contest, while Robert Williams III (ankle) is questionable.
It all gets underway Wednesday (Feb 1) at 7:30pm ET from TD Garden, in a game you can see live on ESPN.

The NBA odds have the Celtics as hefty 8.5-point favorites, with a total set at 226.5.
Boston has the third-most home wins in the East at 19-6, and are currently the NBA’s top seed, the only team with a winning percentage over .700.
Brooklyn is no slouch, though, with the 2nd-most road wins in the conference at 16-11. They sit in fourth in the East, a game ahead of the Cavaliers and just 1.5 games back of the 76ers.
Brooklyn Betting Analysis
Brooklyn is just 4-6 in their last 10 since losing Durant to a knee injury, but they have won two straight, including a 121-104 win over the Lakers last time out.
Kyrie Irving led the way with 26 points, while adding seven rebounds and six assists. He’s upped his game with KD out, averaging 31.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists in nine games, while shooting 41.7% from three-point range.

Reserves Patty Mills and Cam Thomas each netted 21 points, while Royce O’Neale was the only other starter to hit double digits, putting up 14 points, to go along with six boards and three assists.
Point forward Ben Simmons (knee) and swingman TJ Warren (shin), who have both missed the last two games, could be available Wednesday night.
Boston Betting Analysis
The Celtics snapped a three-game slide with a controversial 125-121 OT win over the Lakers — a game that will be remembered for a non-call on a LeBron James drive at the end of regulation, which would have given LA the win.
Jaylen Brown led the way with 37 points and nine rebounds. Jayson Tatum, in the 2023 NBA MVP odds mix, finished with 30 points, 11 rebounds and four dimes.

Boston committed just 12 turnovers in that game, and are tied with the Heat for the 5th-fewest turnovers per game at 13.5. Teams only convert the C’s turnovers to 15.6 points, the 4th-lowest total in the NBA.
Offensively, the Celtics are the 3rd-highest scoring team in the league, dropping 117.8 points a night. They’re a top-10 team at hitting from downtown, a 37% clip (8th). Brooklyn is the 2nd-best three-point shooting team in the league, hitting at a crisp 39.4%.
Both teams are legit defensively: Boston sits just outside the top 10 in scoring defense at 112.3 points per game, while the Nets are in sixth, at 111.5.

Nets vs Celtics Betting Prediction
Boston has won both meetings between the teams this season, the latest a 109-98 W on Jan 12, the first game BK was without Durant. Boston also held the Nets under 100 on Dec 4, in a 103-92 victory.
The Celtics have not been a great wager of late, though, going 0-6 against the spread in their last six games.
Boston — who hasn’t played since Jan 28 — will have two days more rest than the Nets in this one, but that hasn’t been an advantage much this season: they’re 2-6 ATS in that scenario.
Conversely, Brooklyn is 5-1 ATS in their last six games. However, they are 0-5 ATS in the last five head-to-head matchups.
These have been low-scoring affairs both times this season, with the teams failing to cross 207.5 points either game, well below the assigned 226.5. With the under 4-1 in the last five meetings, look for that trend to continue Wednesday.
Pick:
- UNDER 226.5 (-110); 1.5 units to win 1.31 units
- NBA Betting Record: 24-22 ATS, 1-1 ML, 4-5 o/u, 0-2 parlays; -2.68 units
