After dropping their first of the season in an OT loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, there’s likely no better opponent to get back to their winning ways than the Detroit Pistons.

The Wizards will look for their 15th straight home win over Detroit, when they matchup up Tuesday (October 25) at Capital One Arena in the nation’s capital. It’s a game that can be seen live on NBA League Pass.

For their part, Detroit has dropped two straight since a season-opening win over the Orlando Magic.

Detroit Betting Analysis

The Pistons will try to salvage at least a win on their season-opening three-game road trip, which has seen them take L’s at New York and most recently at Indiana, a 124-115 decision.

It’s really all about learning and turning that corner for Detroit, who finally have a core that should be competitive for years to come.

Second-year man Cade Cunningham continues to shape into a franchise cornerstone, dropping a team-high 22 points against Indy, to go along with four rebounds and four assists.

Rookie Jaden Ivey was also a standout, scoring 17 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and adding five dimes, though he did have five turnovers. All five Pistons starters  tallied in double-digits, with Saddiq Bey putting up 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Their struggles came on the defensive glass, where they surrendered 20 offensive rebounds, which led to eight more field goal attempts for the Pacers.

In fact, in the last two losses, Detroit is surrendering 127 points a game, allowing a 48% field-goal mark, a 40% clip from distance, while surrendering 15.5 offensive rebounds per contest.

Washington Betting Analysis

Perhaps the best news for the Wizards so far this season is the good health of Bradley Beal.

The dynamic shooting guard, who missed most of last year with a wrist injury, is putting up a steady 23 points per game on 61.7% shooting, while adding 6.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds.

He had his best game of the young season in Washington’s 117-107 OT loss to the Cavaliers, pouring in 27 points, to go along with five assists, four rebounds and a pair of steals.

Another nice development is Kristaps Porzingis looking like a steady second option in DC. He finished with a season-high 18 points and 11 rebounds against Cleveland.

On the season, Porzingis is averaging 15.7 points and a team-high eight rebounds per game, while shooting 38.9% from deep on six attempts per game.

Washington currently ranks seventh in points allowed (108.0) while holding teams to 41.5% shooting, the third-best figure in the NBA.

Pistons vs Wizards Prediction

It’s early, so there’s not much stock to put into Washington’s 1-1-1 mark against the spread, or Detroit’s 1-2 ATS record.

The Wiz swept the season series a year ago, with three of the four games ending in Washington one-possession wins – a difference of three points in each contest. Even the other Detroit loss was by single digits (9).

Cunningham has had pretty good success against Washington, putting up 20+ points in three of four appearances, while also averaging six rebounds and 5.3 assists.

Beal played in only one of the games last year, scoring 25 points with six boards and three dimes in a 119-116 win in December.

His presence, plus Detroit on the last night of a road trip, should be enough to cover this one.
