The Sunday NBA Playoff quadruple-header continues from Detroit, where the Pistons welcome the Magic for Game 1 of their Eastern Conference 1st Round series. Detroit is a sizeable favorite in the NBA odds, in a contest where points should be tough to come by.

Big Names like Cade Cunningham and Paolo Banchero are likely to draw the most wagers in the player props maket, but I’m looking to bet on and against a trio of lower profile Detroit players instead. Pistons vs Magic Player Prop Odds

My favorite NBA props bet for this matchup is over 7.5 rebounds+assists for Ausar Thompson. The Jack-of-all trades guard is a stat stuffer in every category, and has feasted on the glass against Orlando this season. I’m also betting under 12.5 points for Tobias Harris, who doesn’t project to have the volume or efficiency needed to clear his line against a very strong Magic defense, and under 11.5 rebounds for Jalen Duren.

Like his brother out in Houston, Thompson has the ability to affect the outcome of a game in so many different ways. He’ll never be game changing scorer, but he makes up for it in literally every other way. He’s a lockdown defender, a phenomenal rebounder, and a budding playmaker.

Thompson has levelled up his playmaking in recent games, racking up 5+ assists in five of his last eight contests. He’s averaged anywhere from 5 to 6 rebounds in every month of the regular season, and has cleared 7.5 rebounds+assists in seven of his past eight outings.

Ausar Thompson vs the Magic This Season

In matchups versus Orlando this season, Thompson is averaging 8 rebounds and 4 assists, making him a prime candidate to clear his prop line tonight.

As for Harris, he hasn’t emerged as the secondary scoring threat Detroit needs to really challenge some of the other top NBA Championship odds contenders. Harris averages only 13 points per game, and has failed to reach even that mark in four of his past six outings. Harris’ shot volume has dipped significantly since Cunningham returned from injury, as he’s averaging only 7.8 field goal attempts over five April contests.

The matchup isn’t very favorable either, as Orlando ranked 13th in defensive rating this season, yielding the fewest 3 point makes per game. The Magic held enemy shooters to 47.6% from the floor, and with both teams operating at a below league average pace, the opportunities for shooters on both sides will take a hit.

Last but not least, Duren has some stiff competition for rebounds tonight from not only his own teammates, but Orlando as well. With Thompson and Isaiah Steward showing more of a presence on the glass, Duren has failed to clear 9 rebounds in four straight games. He averaged less than his prop line versus the Magic this year, while Orlando ranked 9th in total rebounding and 5th on the defensive glass during the regular season.
