Brooklyn Nets Betting Trends

The Nets went down easy in the Big Easy, but no one could pin the blame on Kevin Durant. He was pacing the Brooklyn attack with 32 points. At +900, Durant is the fourth betting choice in the NBA MVP odds.

Guard Kyrie Irving was held to 15 points. It took the Nets just five minutes into the game to fall behind by double digits. They trailed by as much as 26 points and surrendered 26 points off of turnovers. Brooklyn lost the rebound battle 61-39 and were outscored 36-4 on second-chance points.

Brooklyn is the fifth betting choice in the NBA championship odds at +800. Toronto is a distant +4000 in this betting market.

Against Toronto, the Nets will be missing point guard Seth Curry. He’s out with an left ankle injury. Power forward TJ Warren (left foot) is also out. Shooting guard Joe Harris (left foot soreness) is listed as probable. Harris hasn’t played since Brooklyn’s NBA preseason opener. Royce O’Neale has been starting in place of Harris.

Toronto Raptors Betting Trends

The Raptors rallied from an 8-point fourth-quarter deficit to get the better of the Cavaliers in their season opener. Toronto outscored Cleveland 32-21 in the final period. Balance was the key for Toronto. Six players scored in double digits in the win, led by 23 points from Pascal Siakam.

Familiar issues were evident in Toronto’s game,  While the Raptors can score in transition and hit the 3-pointer, their inside game is unimpressive. The Raptors were just 11-of-24 at the rim in the win over Cleveland.

Toronto is thin down the middle. Center Chris Boucher (hamstring) is listed as questionable for this game. Center Khem Burch (knee) is also questionable. Precious Achiuwa and rookie Christian Kolokolo are filling in centre minutes off the bench with Boucher and Birch hurting.

Raptors small forward Otto Porter (hamstring) is out.

Nets vs Raptors Prediction

The Nets were 34-21 SU last season when taking the court as the moneyline favorite. Toronto was 17-19 SU as the moneyline underdog.

It’s curious that the number on the point spread for this game is Brooklyn -2.5, because it would appear that a three-point margin could make the difference between which team gets the victory. Last season, when scoring 112 points, Toronto was 31-4 SU and 30-5 ATS.

On the other hand, when Brooklyn held an opponent to 109 points or less, the Nets were 29-4 SU and 25-8 ATS.

Toronto is 14-4 SU in the last 18 games against the Nets. The Raptors are 5-0 ATS in the last five games at Brooklyn.

Pick: Toronto Raptors +2 (-110)
