The way the Brooklyn Nets have been playing at home, it’s shocking that they’d be a 10-point favorite over anyone.

Unless, of course, that opponent happens to be decimated by injuries and COVID, like the San Antonio Spurs.

Both are trying to bounce back off blowout losses last time out when they tip-off at Barclays Center at 12pm ET.

Brooklyn Nets Outlook

If you watched the Bucks-Nets game Friday night, you know there was much discussion about Brooklyn’s recent woes at home, where they’ve dropped five straight.

The concern was that Kevin Durant was in the lineup in for all the losses — to the Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers and LA Clippers and two blowout losses to the Memphis Grizzlies and Bucks. James Harden played in all but the Magic game. That shouldn’t happen.

At 10-10, Brooklyn owns the worst home record of any of the top four teams in each conference.

Against Memphis, BK was down by as many as 28. They rallied  on the road the following game from down 21 to top Indiana, but another sluggish home start had them down as many as 24 to the Bucks in a 121-109 loss.

Kevin Durant had 29 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, but even he couldn’t get the Nets off to a good start. They trailed by eight in the first quarter, and have been outscored by 29 in the opening frame during the skid.

Since a four-game burst starting on Christmas where he went for 30+ points, Harden has failed to crack the 20-point plateau in three straight games.

Because of state laws. guard Kyrie Irving will be sidelined again. He sat out Friday’s loss as well, after scoring 22 in his season debut in a win over the Pacers.

San Antonio Spurs Outlook

Catching the Nets on a downswing at home is a welcomed opportunity for the Spurs, who have struggled mightily, dropping five of their last six games.

The latest was a 119-100 drubbing at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers, in a game the Spurs trailed wire-to-wire. They were blasted 39-19 in the first quarter, and didn’t have an answer for Joel Embiid, who ripped them for 31 points and 12 boards.

San Antonio is now 1-4 on their current 7-game road trip and are missing so any key players due to COVID protocols.

They’ll be shorthanded again Sunday, with Derrick White, Thad Young, Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell, Tre Jones and Doug McDermott all expected out.

Expect Dejounte Murray to feature prominently for San Antonio. He had 27 points, nine assists, five rebounds and three steals against Philadelphia, in his second game back from COVID protocols.

Spurs vs Nets Pick

At 14-22-1 ATS, the Nets have the second-worst record against the spread in the entire NBA. They are a grim 14-5-1 ATS at Barclays Center. San Antonio is 21-17 ATS on the year while going a respectable 11-10 ATS on the road.

The key number here is 111. If the Nets can score 111 points, they are a lethal 18-1 on the season, and a sparkling 18-3 when they give up 111 or less.

The Spurs haven’t had much offensive pop since their players have gone down, potting 105 points or less in five of the last six games.

Expect Brooklyn to find the form of a title contender, and snap their home skid in a big way.

The Pick: Nets -10 (-110)
