Our betting card starts with one of the last games on the schedule, as the Lakers look to prolong the Mavericks winless streak.

Lakers vs Mavericks Pick

Dallas has lost all four of its games so far while putting up some pretty pedestrian shooting numbers. The Mavs have made just 41% of their field goal attempts and only 29.8% of their shots from behind the arc.

Those types of numbers are bound to put you in a hole, but their inefficiency from the field isn’t the only problem. They’ve made only 68.3% of their free throws, and rank bottom-seven in rebounding. To make matters worse, no team has committed more fouls giving their opponents a plethora of freebies from the charity stripe.

Dallas traded its first-round pick this year to acquire Christian Wood, leaving few players on the Summer League roster worth getting excited for.

LA meanwhile, didn’t have a first-round selection either. Their roster isn’t full of guys we’ll see in the league in a few months, but they’ve performed far better than the Mavs through four games. The Lakers are 2-2, and fresh off a 102-94 victory over New Orleans.

That makes back-to-back wins for LA, who are among the top-12 teams in rebounding so far, and the sixth most efficient squad from beyond the arc.

Pick: LA Lakers -1.5 (-118)

Celtics vs Nets Pick

Our next target comes in the form of a matchup we just saw in the 2022 postseason. The Celtics face the Nets in what should be a high-scoring affair. Boston, a top-two contender in the NBA Championship odds, leads all teams this summer in scoring averaging 100 points per outing.

Not too far behind is Brooklyn, who’s averaging 92 points per outing. The Nets feature Cam Thomas, who’s currently leading Summer League in scoring, as well as David Duke Jr. who ranks inside the top-17.

Brooklyn’s starting five just put up 86 points on their own last time out versus Minnesota, while Boston hung 108 points in Memphis in their previous game.

Neither team is particularly deep, let’s face it hardly any Summer League squad is, but if the starters get the bulk of the run like they’ve been seeing all week, this game should easily clear 179.5 points.

Each of Boston’s last three outings have produced a total of at least 195, while Brooklyn’s last three games have all cleared 183 points.

Pick: Over 179.5 (-110)
