The Phoenix Suns matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday August 11th. Phoenix owns a perfect 6-0 record in the bubble so far, but a loss on Tuesday will see them eliminated if the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Dallas Mavericks.

Phoenix likely need to win out to secure a place in the play-in, and even that might not be enough considering the favorable schedule the Blazers have. Portland is currently ahead of the Suns.

Injury Riddled Sixers

Injuries and the Sixers are a long-running NBA tradition. Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid are both out for this one, though Brett Brown is optimistic that Embiid will return before the playoffs. Tobias Harris and Al Horford are questionable, too, leaving Brown with limited options.

The construction of Philly’s roster means they have pretty average as it is – some players a long way down the bench could be getting plenty of minutes on Tuesday.

If Harris and/or Horford sit out, the offensive burden falls primarily on Josh Richardson and Alec Burks. Richardson has had a mixed time in Orlando thus far, but he had his best game of the bubble in the loss to Portland last time out, scoring 34 points. Burks scored 42 across Philly’s last two games.

Brown will get a chance to see what Furkan Korkmaz, Glenn Robinson III and Matisse Thybulle can do against the NBA’s hottest team.

Shining Suns

Devin Booker, after years on bad teams, has people talking positively about the Suns. Booker has been phenomenal in the bubble, including dropping 35 in their last two wins. Arriving in Orlando, Phoenix looked like they were there to make up the numbers. That clearly hasn’t been the case.

Game-winners against the Clippers and gaudy numbers means Booker gets the headlines, but this is more than a star carrying his team. Phoenix’s veterans – Dario Saric, Ricky Rubio – are performing well. Most importantly, though, Deandre Ayton, Cam Johnson and Mikal Bridges are delivering.

Ayton’s progress is always in the shadows of Luka Doncic and Trae Young, and understandably so. Put on the bench for the last game and given fewer minutes, the former first overall pick will be rested for this matchup and could dominate inside. Ayton is only a couple games removed from a 23-point, 10-rebound, four-block, two-steal game against the Pacers.

Bridges has made a real leap. He’s a menace on defense and has become a bigger factor on offense, as his five-for-eight from three in their last outing showed.

It’s easy to focus on Booker, and he looks a good bet at -104 to score over 29.5 points, but this winning streak is a genuine team effort.

Suns to Win

Even if the Sixers were healthy, this would be a hard game to call. Phoenix is playing that well.

With Embiid and potentially Horford out, the Sixers will be vulnerable inside. Ayton could have some fun.

Richardson and Thybulle will likely share the responsibility of guarding Booker – he will look to be aggressive and get to the rim. Booker went to the line 14 times against the Thunder and will be looking for a repeat performance here.

Despite how impressive the Suns have been, the -8 spread seems too big. The moneyline is price is too short to represent much value. Booker to score more than 30 and Phoenix to win looks like the best bet.

Pick: Devin Booker to score 30+, Phoenix to win (+164)
