  • Minnesota is laying 1.5 points as visitors in the Timberwolves vs Wizards odds on Monday (Nov. 29)
  • Both teams are in the midst of multi-game losing streaks
  • The latest Timberwolves vs Wizards odds, plus injury news, and a betting prediction are listed below

A pair of suddenly slumping teams square off on Monday in Washington. The Timberwolves (10-10, 5-4 away) face the Wizards (10-9, 7-4 home) with both teams dealing with injuries to their starting rotation.

Minnesota and Washington each played Sunday evening, so there’s no immediate injury update on players like defensive standout Jaden McDaniels for the T-Wolves, or sharpshooter Kyle Kuzma for the Wiz.

Online sportsbooks are leaning towards Minnesota in the NBA odds, as they’ve been pegged as short road favorites.

Minnesota Timberwolves Betting Analysis

Minnesota enters play fresh off back-to-back losses, the latest coming at the hands of the Warriors, a top-four NBA Championship odds contender. Prior to this slump, they’d reeled off five straight victories, but that winning streak came crashing to a halt on Friday against the lowly Hornets.

The T-Wolves shot just 42% versus Charlotte, and while they were better against the Warriors (44%), they had no answers on defense. Without McDaniels, Minny’s top perimeter defender, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole combined for 70 points.

The T-Wolves allowed Golden State to shoot 43% from three, and the team got dominated in the assist and rebounding department. The ladder stat is especially concerning seeing how Minnesota has Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns patrolling the front court.

Anthony Edwards paced the offense with 26 points, while Towns chipped in 21. Minnesota enters play ranked 18th in offensive rating and league average in points per game.

Defensively they sit 13th in defensive rating, but will have their hands full with the Bradley Beal/Kristaps Porzingis tandem on Monday.

Washington Wizards Betting Analysis

Speaking of Beal, he paced Washington with 30 points in a 130-121 defeat to Boston on Sunday. Porzingis chipped in 21 points of his own, but like Minnesota, they had no answer for their opponent on defense.

The Wizards yielded a 55% field goal percentage to the Celtics, and a 47% mark from downtown. They lost the rebounding and assist battle, and were down by as many as 26 points before rallying to make the final score look respectable.

Washington is actually a very capable defense, ranking eighth in defensive efficiency. Boston seemingly couldn’t miss on Sunday, which isn’t a huge surprise since they are the league’s most efficient offense.

Prior to their loss against the Celtics, Washington had allowed an average of just 105 points per game over their previous 10 outings.

Offensively, the Wizards are more of a Jekyll and Hyde team. They can look great at times, but absolutely dismal at others. After Beal and Porzingis they really don’t have a reliable third option with Kuzma down.

To make matters worse, Rui Hachimura, the team’s fourth leading scorer is also hurting and didn’t play Sunday with an ankle injury.

Timberwolves vs Wizards Prediction

For both teams, this will be their third game in four nights. Expect the basketball to be sloppy and the benches to play a bigger role. Neither team boasts an elite cast of reserves, and this is where Hachimura’s absence could be felt.

He’s easily Washington’s top option off the bench and the potential absences of both him and Kuzma will likely be too much to overcome.

11/25/2022 Minnesota Charlotte CHA, 110-108
11/27/2022 Golden State Minnesota GS, 137-114

It’s never comfortable laying points with a middling road team, but Washington is dealing with more significant injuries than Minnesota and the Wiz don’t have enough healthy offensive threats outside Beal and Porzingis to justify backing them.

Pick: Minnesota Timberwolves Moneyline (-120)
