The NBA Championship odds are always changing, but after a dominant performances in Round 1 by Damian Lillard and the Blazers you would think they’d be getting a little more respect. The fact that they aren’t is to your advantage when it comes to laying action on the big time value they provide. Here’s the case for why Portland and one other team on this list are deserving of a futures play.

Lillard Gives Blazers Legitimate Shot
Lillard put up 33.0 points per game in the opening round and currently sits behind only Kevin Durant in that department. He was electric disposing of Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and the Oklahoma City Thunder and now faces a Denver Nuggets team that doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence.
The Nuggets struggled mightily at times against the San Antonio Spurs before winning in seven games. Despite starting the series on the road, many are taking the Blazers to beat the Nuggets which would put them in the Western Conference Finals.

While Portland would be underdogs in a series against either the Golden State Warriors or Houston Rockets it’s not impossible to see them winning that series. The Warriors and Rockets will likely play a long series that will take a lot of energy. Several stars in that series are already banged up and could come out the other end even worse off. A healthy Lillard gives Portland a chance, especially if the winner of that series isn’t at 100% and you can have him and his upstart squad at +3300.
The Blazers won 53 games this year. They finished with the same record as the Rockets and had only four less wins than the Warriors. They deserve to be in the conversation.
One other thing to consider, this team won 53 games this year. They finished with the same record as the Rockets and had only four less wins than the Warriors. As much as they appear to be a crazy underdog, the reality is they deserve to be included in the conversation with many of these teams and the price they are currently getting is some of the best value you will see.
Celtics Heating Up at the Right Time
The Boston Celtics swept the Indiana Pacers in Round 1 and made quick work of the Milwaukee Bucks in their Round 2 opener. They were eight-point underdogs who put up a 22 point win to take home court advantage and continue their perfect run so far in the playoffs.

With Kyrie Irving averaging 23.2 points and 8.4 assists per game the Celtics look unbeatable right now. They currently have six different players averaging double digits in points which gives them depth that isn’t matched by any other playoff team, including the Golden State Warriors. Considering they have a 1-0 lead and are still offering +1200 odds, the Celtics, much like the Blazers, are worth a strong look thanks to the great value being offered.
