  • The Memphis Grizzlies are 5.5-point home favorites over the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, February 1
  • Portland is 3-0 both straight up and against the spread in the club’s last three visits to Memphis, while the Grizzlies are 1-5 SU in their past six games
  • Below, see the Blazers vs Grizzlies odds and predictions

The Memphis Grizzlies (32-18, 24-24-2 ATS) are home to face the Portland Trail Blazers (24-26, 26-24 ATS) and recent history suggests that this should turn out positively for the Grizzlies.

However, recent history when facing the Trail Blazers is suggesting the outcome will be otherwise.

Memphis came back from an 0-5 road trip to whip the Indiana Pacers 112-100 at home on January 29. That extended the home court unbeaten run of the Grizzlies to eight consecutive games. Memphis hasn’t lost at home in 2023.

However, the Grizzlies haven’t won at home against the Trail Blazers since a 111-104 victory on February 12, 2020. Portland is 3-0 both straight up and against the spread in the club’s last three visits to Memphis.

Oddsmakers are going with the hot hand, though. Memphis is set as a 5.5-point home favorite over Portland. The Grizzlies are 4-8 ATS over their past 12 games.

The Grizzlies opened up as 5.5-point favorites in the NBA odds. Currently, the total is off the board. The total has gone under in six straight Memphis games. All seven of Portland’s last seven road games saw the under as the winning play on the total.

This game is being broadcast by NBA League Pass in the USA and Canada. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00pm ET at FedEx Forum.

At +1000, the Grizzlies are the sixth betting choice in the NBA championship odds. The Trail Blazers are given +155 odds of participating in an NBA play-in game.

Trail Blazers vs Grizzlies Betting Trends

The public is certainly being swayed by the impressive home run of the Grizzlies. In spread splits, 84% of handle and 66% of bets are backing Memphis.

As far as the moneyline splits are concerned, there’s 59% of handle and 74% of bets going with the Grizzlies.

Portland vs Memphis Injury Report

The Grizzlies are missing center and top rebounder Steven Adams from the NBA starting lineups. He’ll be out 3-5 weeks due to a PCL sprain in his right knee. Shooting guards John Konchar (concussion) and Desmond Bane (knee) and guard Danny Green (knee) are all listed as questionable for Wednesday’s game.

Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic (left calf soreness) is probable. SG Josh Hart (hamstring) is day-to-day. Both C Ibou Badji (knee) and PF Justise Winslow (ankle) are out.

Grizzlies Roaring at Home

The last time Memphis dropped a game on home court was a 125-108 setback against the Phoenix Suns on December 27. Tasty home cooking is nothing new to the Grizzlies, though. They are 21-3 at home this season. Only the Denver Nuggets (22) show more home victories among NBA teams.

Although they won their last game, the Grizzlies needed to rally from a 19-point deficit to get the better of the Pacers. Memphis guard Ja Morant, a contender in the NBA MVP odds, hit for his fifth triple-double of the season and second in as many games.

Morant accounted for 27 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds on Sunday. He came close to a triple-double when Memphis beat Portland 111-106 on November 2. In that game, Morant scored 20 points, dished seven assists and grabbed nine boards.

Center Jaren Jackson Jr contributed 28 points. In 17 home games this season, Jackson has 71 blocks and 23 steals. But comparison, he shows 37 blocks and 12 steals in 17 road games.

Lillard Hot for Portland

Portland has won three of the last four games. Guard Damian Lillard has really heated up. He’s averaging 42.3 points per game over this four-game stretch. He was last week’s NBA Player of the Week.

Lillard scored 42 points in Monday’s 129-115 defeat of the Atlanta Hawks. He hit five shots from beyond the arc and all 17 of his free throws.

SG Anfernee Simons also drained five 3-pointers for the Trail Blazers in the victory. Simons counted 31 points in that November 2 game against Memphis. Lillard didn’t play that game.

Trail Blazers vs Grizzlies Prediction

While they’re winning at home, the Grizzlies aren’t covering nearly as often. Memphis is just 2-4 ATS in the club’s past six home games. The Grizzlies are also 3-6 ATS in their last nine games as a favorite of 5.5+ points.

Memphis is treading water over the past 10 games (5-5 SU) and in conference play (15-15 SU) this season.

Portland is actually a better ATS team (26-24) than the Grizzlies (24-24-2). Beginning a three-game road trip, the Trail Blazers are 0-8 ATS in their last eight road games.

Pick: Portland Trail Blazers +5.5 (-110)
