  • Duke’s three stars from last season should be drafted in the top 10
  • Virginia’s De’Andre Hunter is expected to be taking among picks 3-7
  • North Carolina’s Coby White should get snatched up by point guard-needy teams like Phoenix and Chicago

While the Toronto Raptors have been celebrating their first title, 29 other teams have been plotting how to unseat them as NBA champs. That will continue into the draft where teams will eye a number of quality ACC players early on.

Will there be more or less than 4.5 ACC players selected in the first 10 picks? Let’s take a closer look at the latest odds from sportsbooks.

Duke’s Three ACC Players Should Be a Lock to Go in Top 10

It seems like at the absolute very least, we’re going to see three players from the ACC taken early on. It’ll all start with Duke’s Zion Williamson, who’ll be selected first overall. By all accounts, the New York Knicks will be drafting his former teammate, RJ Barrett, with the third pick overall. Cam Reddish, who is the third piece of that awesome trio from last year, is also expected to go in the top 10.

At the very least, each of those three should be taken. There might be some question about where Reddish goes but almost every mock draft out there has him going in the top 10.

De’Andre Hunter is Flying Up the Boards

There are a lot of opinions out there but the consensus seems to be that Hunter is one of the best players in the NBA Draft. Many experts believe he’s also among the most NBA-ready. The athletic forward has a versatile skillset with a 7’2″ wingspan. ESPN’s Jay Bilas believes he could really become a star at the pro level.

It seems that as we’ve gotten closer to the draft, more and more people expect him to go higher. Some mock drafts have him as high as no. 5 to Cleveland or no. 6 to Phoenix. I don’t expect him to drop much lower than that, which makes him the fourth ACC player in the top 10.

Coby White Will Be the Fifth ACC Player

Barring some unforeseen circumstances, White should be the fifth ACC player taken in the top 10. North Carolina’s freshman point guard has epic quickness and is a combo guard that can either score when he needs to, or pass the ball. The NBA thrives on players like this nowadays, so he’s not going to have to wait long to hear his name.

Most mock drafts have him going at no. 5 to Cleveland. To me, no. 6 to Phoenix makes sense as Cleveland took a point guard in the NBA Draft last year. At any rate, teams like Phoenix and Chicago both need point guards. He won’t get past both of those teams.

Bet the Over

Of course, there are bound to be some surprises at the draft. There always are. However, it feels like you can comfortably count on at least five players from the ACC going in the top 10. And remember Nasir Little from North Carolina is also expected to be in that 10-15 area, so he’s not far off from being the sixth.

Bet the over with this prop. We’ve got three for sure, White shouldn’t drop pass the point guard needy teams, Hunter is a riser, and Reddish isn’t likely to slip out of the top 10.
