CAA Tournament Schedule

The event gets underway at 2 p.m. ET Friday with a first-round game between Hampton and Monmouth.

The second-round matchups on Saturday are William & Mary vs Elon, Hampton-Monmouth winner vs Drexel, North Carolina A&T vs Stony Brook and Delaware vs Northeastern.

Hofstra, Charleston, Towson and UNCW have double byes into Sunday’s quarterfinals. The semifinals will be played Monday and the championship game is set for 7 p.m. ET Tuesday and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.

Charleston CAA Tournament Favorite

Charleston enters the tournament on a seven-game winning streak, which follows back-to-back losses.

Charleston is 13th in the nation in scoring at 81.7 points a game. The Cougars have five players with double-figure scoring averages and a sixth player at 9.7 points a game.

Senior guards Dalton Bolon (12.7) and Pat Robinson (11.2) are the top scorers. Another senior guard, Ryan Larson, is fifth in the CAA in assists with 4.3 a game.

Coach Pat Kelsey enters the tournament with plenty of job security. He received a five-year, $5.5-million contract extension Tuesday that carries through the 2027-28 season.

Hofstra, Towson CAA Tournament Contenders

Hofstra is red hot as it has won 11 games in a row and 15 of its last 16.

The Pride are led by senior guard Aaron Estrada, the CAA Player of the Year after averaging 20.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He is second in the league in scoring and his 48.4 field goal percentage is third.

Senior guard Tyler Thomas has a 16.2 scoring average and sophomore guard Jaquan Carlos leads the CAA with 4.9 assists per game. Hofstra is 20th in the nation in field goal defense (40.2%) and 26th in field goal shooting (48.0%).

Senior guard Nicolas Timberlake tops Towson – the third choice with +650 odds — in scoring with a 17.7 average, which is third in the league. The Tigers have won three of their last four games.

Senior guard Cam Holden has averages of 14.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists. Senior forward Charles Thompson is scoring 12.3 points and grabbing 8.0 rebounds a game.

Drexel Sleeper in CAA Tournament

Drexel is offensively challenged. The Dragons stand 305th in Division I in scoring (66.8) and 327th in three-point shooting (31.4%).

However, the Dragons are 22nd in scoring defense (62.6) and junior forward Aman Williams leads the CAA in field goal shooting (51.6%) and blocked shots (2.4). That defense makes Drexel a potential value play at +2200.

CAA Tournament Prediction

Charleston is the only CAA team that has been ranked this season and the league’s best team despite its #2 seed. The Cougars will also have the revenge factor going for them if they meet Hofstra in the final.

Pick: Charleston (-110)
