Detroit Mercy Betting Outlook

Senior guard Antoine Davis has been a first-team All-Horizon League selection each of the last four seasons. He picked up where he left off Monday against Rochester, an NAIA program.

Davis scored a game-high 28 points and dished eight assists. The big scoring total came even on an off-night shooting as he was 8 of 20 from the field and 4 of 12 from three-point range.

Davis has scored in double digits in 112 consecutive games, three away from the NCAA record. He has had at least 20 points in 78 of those games.

Senior forward Jordan Phillips and junior guard Jayden Stone both had double-doubles. Phillips contributed 18 points and 10 rebounds while Stone finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Phillips was limited to just three games last season because of an injury. Stone made his Titans’ debut following his transfer from Grand Canyon.

Senior wing Damezi Anderson just missed being the third Detroit Mercy player with a double-double. He scored 17 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had three assists.

A transfer from Loyola of Chicago, Anderson shot 5 of 12 from beyond the arc.

Senior guard A.J. Oliver II chipped in with 12 points.

Detroit Mercy held a commanding 42-27 rebounding advantage and turned the ball over just five times.

Boston College Betting Outlook

Freshman wing Prince Aligbe had a memorable collegiate debut as his layup with under a second left gave Boston College the two-point win over Cornell.

Aligbe scored eight points in the last four minutes of the closely contested game. He finished with 16 points overall and just missed a double-double as he pulled down nine rebounds.

Senior forward CJ Penha Jr. scored 15 points in just 16 minutes as a reserve. He was playing in his first Division I game after spending four seasons at the Division II level.

Senior forward T.J. Bickerstaff had a stat-sheet stuffing performance. The son of Cleveland Cavaliers coach J.B. Bickerstaff became just the second ACC player since 1996 to have at least 12 points, 10 rebounds, five steals, four assists and two blocked shots in a game.

Senior guard Makai Ashton-Langford also scored 12 points to go with five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Sophomore guard Jaeden Zackney wound up with 11 points, seven assists and four steals while dishing to Aligbe on the winning basket.

Boston College had 19 turnovers and shot just 23.5% (4 of 17) from distance. However, the Eagles forced 24 turnovers and had 16 steals.

Detroit Mercy vs Boston College Prediction

The last time these programs met was during the 1971-72 season, long before any of the current players were born. Detroit Mercy won that game 76-68 at home.

Davis can light it up against anybody, but Boston College has the better team. The Eagles finally get revenge on the Titans some 51 years later.

Pick: Boston College -11.5 (-110)

CBB Season Record: 1-0 ATS
