Florida was able to get into the win column for the first time in February last time out. They beat the Georgia Bulldogs 70-63 on Saturday in Gainesville.

Meanwhile Auburn has had a similar month, losing four out of their five games played in February. They had the brakes beaten off of them 104-80 by LSU the last time they hit the floor on Saturday.

The Gators Are Back in the Win Column

February has not been kind to the Florida Gators. They started the month with an inexplicable home loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks. Their next three games were postponed due to Covid-19 concerns and then their first game after the impromptu hiatus was a road games against one of the hottest teams in the country, Arkansas.

After the loss to the Razorbacks, they desperately needed a win in their next game and they got it over the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday.

The Gators came out with a purpose against the Bulldogs, turning an 8-7 deficit to a 20-8 lead they would never relinquish. The final score was not indicative of the beating that took place in this game. The Gators’ starters were long gone before the Bulldogs could mount the comeback that made this one look respectable.

Colin Castleton paced the Gators in scoring with 14 points while also grabbing seven rebounds.

Auburn Has to Close Out Games

The Gators aren’t the only ones struggling this month as February has been equally cruel to the Auburn Tigers. They’ve lost three games while having another one postponed but the silver lining was that they were in every loss. That silver lining was gone on Saturday as they were smoked by the LSU Tigers 104-80. LSU had not scored that many points against an LSU opponent since 1994.

This one got out of hand early as LSU had a double-digit lead before the 10 minute mark of the first half. The Tigers were red hot from the floor as they ended up shooting 53% for the game which included 50% from three-point land. Sharife Cooper was the lone bright spot for the Tigers as he poured in 26 points in the losing effort.

Best Betting Angle

The pick’em line on this one seems fair given the situation. The Tigers are a safe bet to respond to the beating they took in their last outing and the Gators have a losing record on the road so their advantage is neutralized. Both teams have a top 40 offense in terms of efficiency so scoring shouldn’t be an issue which means the total is worth a look.

The Gators’ offense has had two “down” games since resuming their schedule but they’ve shown improvement in both. Being this is the third game back, Florida should look more like the team that has the 69th best effective field goal percentage. Auburn should push the pace as they play at the 34th fastest in the country and if that happens, this one could sail over the total especially if it stays close.

The pick: Over 153 (-110)
