Howard Betting Outlook

Howard turned in one of its best defensive efforts of the season against FIU.

The Bison held the Panthers to just 35.4% (23-of-65) from the field and 25.0% (7-of-28) from three-point range. FIU also had 15 turnovers, which helped offset the 19 committed by Howard.

Howard is 336th in the nation out of 363 teams in three-point field goal percentage allowed (37.5). The Bison are also 323rd in field goal percentage allowed (46.2) and 320th in scoring defense (75.5).

Junior forward Steve Settle III is averaging 13.2 points and 6.6 rebounds a game. He is fourth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in boards and a potential NB prospect.

Settle notched his third double-double of the season and second in three games against FIU. He finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Elijah Hawkins is third in the conference in assists with 4.2 a game while also averaging 12.9 points and 1.6 steals. He had 13 points, six rebounds, and four assists Tuesday.

Last season, Hawkins was the MEAC Rookie of the Year.

Junior forward Jordan Wood led Howard with 15 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. Freshman forward Shy Odom scored a season-high 14 points on five-of-six shooting.

Harvard Betting Outlook

Senior wing Chris Ledlum is making a strong early case to win Ivy League Player of the Year.

Ledlum leads the league in rebounding (7.5) and steals (2.0). He is also second in scoring (19.2), third in field goal shooting (54.1%), and fifth in blocked shots (1.0).

Though Ledlum missed all six three-point attempts against Tufts, he finished with 18 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Ledlum is the only Harvard player with a double-figure scoring average.

Sophomore guard Evan Nelson’s 3.8 assists a game rank third in the Ivy League. Junior forward Justice Ajogbor is second in blocked shots with a 1.3 average.

Against Tufts, senior guard Luka Sakota knocked down 6 of 10 shots from beyond the arc for a season-best 18 points. Freshman forward Chisom Okpara added 16 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Harvard shot 45.2% (14 of 31) from distance and held a 41-22 rebounding advantage, though it did have 15 turnovers.

Howard vs Harvard Prediction

Harvard leads the all-time series 6-0 and won 77-69 at home last season. Ludlum had 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Crimson. Settle scored 18 points for Howard.

Rustiness is a concern for Harvard after a long layoff. However, Ledlum and the Crimson are talented enough to cover the double-digit spread.

Pick: Harvard -10.5 (-102)

Season Record: 16-8 ATS (+7.2 units), 0-3 MLB (-3.0 units)
