When the Kansas Jayhawks (2-0, 0-2 ATS) and Duke Blue Devils (2-0, 2-0 ATS) meet on the hardwood, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Defending national champions Kansas said goodbye to six players, including four of the title-winning starting five. There’s a new coach in charge of Duke. Jon Scheyer is replacing the legend that is Mike Krzyzewski. However, Kansas coach Bill Self also won’t be prowling the sideline. He’s under NCAA suspension. Norm Roberts will be coaching the Jayhawks in this game.

Kansas Jayhawks Betting Trends

The +260 second pick in the Big 12 Conference title odds at +260, the Jayhawks were easy winners over Nebraska-Omaha (89-64) and North Dakota State (82-59) to open the season. However, Kansas failed to cover the spread in both games.

With 40 points and 20 rebounds through the first two games of the season, junior forward Jalen Wilson is averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds per game. Through two games, redshirt junior guard Dajuan Harris Jr. leads the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 13.00. Harris, who led the Big 12 and was 14th nationally last year in the stat, has 13 assists and one turnover this season.

Duke Blue Devils Betting Trends

Seven freshman from the nation’s #1 recruiting class populate the Duke roster. Freshman center Kyle Filipowski has posted consecutive double-doubles to begin his NCAA career. He joins Marvin Bagley III (2017-18) as the only Duke freshmen with back-to-back double-doubles to open a season. No Duke freshman has opened a career with three consecutive double-doubles.

Freshman forward Mark Mitchell is leading the team in scoring though two games (15.5 points per game). He netted a game-high 18 points in the season-opening 71-44 win over Jacksonville.

Duke is second nationally in scoring defense (41.0 points allowed per game). The 82 points permitted so far this season are Duke’s fewest through the first two games of a season since 1946-47.

Duke leads the overall series with Kansas, 8-5, but the Jayhawks have won three of the last four meetings. They are 2-1 versus the Blue Devils in the Champions Classic. Going back to last season, Kansas is riding a 13-game winning streak. That’s the longest active run of success in the nation.

Duke has won four of its last five in the Champions Classic. The Blue Devils’ 7-4 mark leads the four schools (Michigan State, Kentucky) that regularly compete in the event.
