UC Davis Aggies Betting Analysis

The Aggies dropped their opening game of the weekend in heartbreaking fashion to Milwaukee 87-85. A buzzer-beating three by the Panthers sunk UC Davis, but they bounced back on Sunday against Southeast Missouri State.

The Aggies squeaked past their opponent 73-71, thanks to a 30 point effort from guard Elijah Pepper. UC Davis’ leading scorer was 10 of 20 from the field, and 4 or 8 from three, and added five boards and two rebounds.

UC Davis also got 13 points from Ade Adebayo, but those were the only two Aggies to reach double figures. The team shot 47.4% from the field and 38% from three, continuing its strong offensive season.

UC Davis ranks 36th in the nation in effective field goal percentage and 20th in three point efficiency. They’ve scored at least 73  points in all seven of their games so far this season, and a suspect defense is the only thing keeping them from a better record.

The Aggies rank 152nd in defensive efficiency, and 180th in opponent effective field goal percentage. They’re especially vulnerable against long distance shooting, ranking 340th in the nation versus threes.

Boston University Betting Analysis

Boston U meanwhile, got blown out by Milwaukee on Sunday 67-46. The Terriers managed just 13 first half points, and wound up shooting 26% from the field and 11.5% from three. For those keeping track at home, that’s 3 of 26 from beyond the arc. That’s tough to do.

BU fell behind by as much as 30 at one point, as they simply couldn’t get anything going offensively. That’s been a common trend for them against competent opposition this season, and they’ve managed to score just 98 total points in two games this weekend.

The Terriers entered the day with the nation’s 229th most efficient offense, while ranking 306th in effective field goal percentage. To make matters worse, they turn the ball over at the 13th highest rate in all of college hoops.

Defensively, the numbers aren’t much better. They’re 231st in defensive efficiency, 183rd in opponent effective field goal percentage, and 289th in opponent three-point efficiency.

UC Davis vs Boston University Prediction

The Terriers are what is known as a school yard bully. They prey on weak teams, and struggle against programs that are above average. They’ve yet to beat a top-264 team this season in three tries, losing by an average of 20.3 points per outing. It’s not like those opponents were juggernauts either, as only one has a price tag listed in the National Championship odds (Connecticut).

Those losses include defeats to both SE Missouri and Milwaukee this weekend, teams that UC Davis beat and lost to at the buzzer respectively.

The Terriers defense is weak, especially against the three, while their offense is nowhere near good enough to take advantage of what UC Davis struggles most to do – defend triples.

Pick: UC Davis -2.5 (-110)
