Huskies vs Beavers Betting Trends

Thursday night’s matchup marks the first of two scheduled meetings this season between these Pac-12 conference rivals. The Huskies saw a three-game SU win streak in head-to-head action snapped in their last visit to Oregon State last February, when they were outclassed in a 91-71 loss to the Beavers as 5-point underdogs.

Overall, Washington has topped the Beavers in five of their past eight clashes, but has gone 1-3 SU in their past four dates on the road. High scoring has been commonplace when these rivals meet. The total has reached 148 in seven of their past nine matchups, fueling a steady 7-2 run for the OVER. Home teams have also struggled to reward loyal sports bettors when these teams meet, covering in just two of their past nine.

However, both these teams have enjoyed some recent success at the sportsbooks. While the Beavers have struggled to pad the win column, they are currently undefeated ATS in five straight contests. Washington has also covered in five of their past seven outings, including two of their past three road dates.

Washington Huskies Outlook

The Huskies have shown signs of moving past their slow start to the season by posting steady results in recent conference play. Since opening their Pac-12 schedule with a lopsided 95-79 loss to No. 8 Arizona back on January 3, the Huskies have claimed victory in three of four. That run began with a stunning 74-68 upset win in Utah as 10-point underdogs three days later.

Overall, the Huskies have gone 2-3 SU and 3-2 ATS on the road this season, all as betting underdogs in the NCAAB odds. However, Washington has struggled at times to contain opposing shooters while playing on the road, surrendering 79.6 points per game through their first five outings, while allowing just 74.9 points per game on home court.

Up front Terrell Brown Jr. has led the attack. The senior guard leads the team with 21 points, four assists, and 2.7 steals per game, and is coming off a steady 25-point performance in last weekend’s 67-64 home win over Stanford.

Oregon State Beavers Outlook

While the Huskies look to be swinging into form, the Beavers have lots of work to do to reverse a woeful start to the season. Winners in just one of their first 11 overall outings, the club showed signs of a turnaround by closing out 2021 on a two-game win streak. However, it has been business as usual since the calendar turned to January, with the Beavers posting three straight losses since New Year’s Day.

It is important to note that Oregon State’s recent defeats have come on the road against No. 5 USC and No. 3 UCLA. The Beavers fell to defeat by an average margin of 13 points. But they remained competitive in those contests, particularly against the Trojans, whom they forced to rally in the dying minutes to seal the win.

Dashawn Davis emerged as the Beavers’ steadiest contributors in those recent matchups. The junior guard led the team in points, rebounds, and assists in last weekend’s loss to UCLA, and has racked up double-digit point totals in five straight appearances.

Huskies vs Beavers Prediction

While it is easy to look at this matchup as a battle of teams headed in different directions, it is important not to overlook the value the Beavers’ gained in their recent dates with top-ranbked opponents, as well as the Huskies’ recent poor performance on the road.

The Pick: Beavers -2.5 (-110)
