The “under” has cashed in the last 15 meetings between Army and Navy. That’s the main reason the game total this year has already been bet down to 34 after opening with an over/under of 37.

Black Knights Going Bowling

Army will be heading to a bowl game for the fifth time in sixth seasons after posting an 8-3 record through 11 games. The Black Knights have won four straight games, including a 31-16 victory over Liberty on November 27th. Jeff Monken’s team was a three-point underdog in the game.

While Army will be taking on Missouri in the Armed Forces Bowl on December 22nd, they won’t be looking past Navy. This is a historic college football rivalry that means a great deal to both programs. The Black Knights can win the Commander in Chief’s Trophy by beating Navy.

Army’s primary strength this year has been their rushing attack, which ranks second nationally averaging 301.2 yards per game. The Black Knights feature four players with at least 400 rushing yards, including sophomore running back Tyrell Robinson. Defensively, Army is allowing only 324 yards and 22.8 points per game.

Navy Trying to Salvage Season

Navy can salvage a disappointing 2021 season by beating their Army rivals at MetLife Stadium in Week 15. The Midshipmen have lost five of their past seven games, but did beat Temple 38-14 last time out. Ken Niumatalolo’s team had no problem covering the spread as 13.5-point favorites.

Although Navy has had an underwhelming season, they’re been a profitable team for bettors against the spread. The Midshipmen have covered the spread in four of their past five games to improve to 7-4 ATS. Navy’s biggest strength is their rush defense, which is allowing only 132 yards per game.

Offensively, the Midshipmen are heavily dependent on their rushing attack like Army. Navy has four players with at least 300 rushing yards, including senior running back Isaac Ruoss. The Midshipmen rank seventh nationally in rushing offense with 87.6% of their snaps coming on the ground.

Army vs Navy Pick & Prediction

Do you dare bet against one of the craziest ongoing betting trends in college football? Not only has the “under” cashed in 15 straight games between Army and Navy, but it’s also hit in 40 of the last 50 service academy games overall. Taking the under in these military game is a sure-fire way to profit.

Although sharps have already slammed the under for this year’s Army vs Navy game, there’s still some value left. The average total points scored in the Army vs Navy game over the last five years has been 29.2. In the 2020 meeting, Army won a defensive showdown by a 15-0 score.

Everything is lining up for another low-scoring battle in 2021, including the weather. The forecast calls for showers at the MetLife Sports Complex in East Rutherford on Saturday. Both these teams are going to try to establish their dominant ground games, but it’s going to be sloppy.

Army and Navy both rank top-40 in rushing defense and know how to plan for each other’s triple-option offense. Navy’s offense has struggled this season, but when the Midshipmen faced Air Force early in the year, they held the Falcons nation-leading rushing offense to 23 points (23-3 loss).

Army is clearly the superior team and has won four of the last five meetings with Navy. The Midshipmen are playing better, however, and know how to keep games close. Look for both teams to try and control the clock with their ground games as we witness another defensive slugfest between two military programs.
