For one of the few times in recent memory, only pride is at stake in the Iron Bowl when Auburn visits #7 Alabama at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday in an SEC game at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.

Auburn (5-6/0-3 road/5-6 ATS) has won two in a row, including beating Western Kentucky 41-17 last week, following a five-game losing streak. The Tigers are 2-1 under interim coach Carnell “Cadillac” Williams, who replaced the fired Bryan Harsin.

Alabama (9-2/6-0 home/5-6 ATS) beat Austin Peay 34-0 last week for its second straight win. However, the Crimson Tide lost two of their previous three games to all but be eliminated from CFP contention.

The game will be televised by CBS.

Auburn Betting Outlook

Auburn has rushed for at least 250 yards in all three games under Williams, the first time the Tigers have done so since 2016. That should not be a surprise considering Williams was one of the greatest running backs in program history.

Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter provided a two-pronged rushing attack against Western Kentucky as Auburn totaled 252 yards on the ground.

Bigsby had 110 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries. Hunter was right behind with 109 yards and one score in 13 attempts.

The game was tied 17-all at halftime before the duo helped the Tigers outscore the Hilltoppers 24-0 over the final two quarters.

Bigsby is fourth in the SEC with 907 rushing yards and third in rushing TDs with 10. He has carried 164 times and caught a team-high 26 passes for 181 yards.

Quarterback Robby Ashford has been inconsistent, completing just 49.3% of his 227 passes for 1,536 with six touchdowns and seven interceptions. Against Western Kentucky, he was 8 of 19 for 102 yards.

Auburn’s top receiving threat is Ja’Varrius Johnson, who has 24 receptions for 473 yards and three TDs.

Cornerback D.J. James had a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown last week.

Alabama Betting Outlook

This could be the last game at Alabama for quarterback Bryce Young, last year’s Heisman Trophy winner. Speculation is that Young will skip the Crimson Tide’s bowl game and declare for the NFL Draft.

The same holds true for linebacker Will Anderson, the likely No. 1 overall pick in the draft.

Young was efficient against Austin Peay, an FCS program. He completed 18 of 24 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions.

Overall, in 2022, Young has a 63.8 completion percentage, 2,664 yards, 24 TDs and four picks. He is third in the conference in touchdown passes and fourth in yards.

Leading rusher Jahmyr Gibbs missed last week’s game with an ankle injury and is questionable along with tight end Cameron Latu (ankle) and cornerback Eli Ricks (concussion). Gibbs has carried 119 times for 774 yards and six touchdowns.

Jase McClellan filled in ably for Gibbs last week, rushing for a career-high 156 yards and two scores on 17 carries. Alabama outgained Austin Peay 527-206 in total yardage while posting its second shutout of the season.

Jermaine Burton had his first 100-yard receiving game since transferring from Georgia. He had seven catches for 128 yards and two touchdowns to increase his season totals to a team-high 34, 503 and six while ranking fourth in the SEC with six TDs.

Alabama is sixth in the nation in scoring offense (40.0) and 17th in total offense (472.0). The Crimson Tide is also 11th in scoring defense (17.2) and 15th in total defense (303.7).

Auburn vs Alabama Prediction

Alabama has won the last two games in the series and six of the last eight, including a 24-22 four-overtime thriller last season at Auburn when Young passed for 317 yards and two touchdowns. The Crimson Tide held Bigsby to 63 yards on 29 carries.

This is the first time since 2010 that Alabama enters the Iron Bowl not ranked in the top five. Look for the Crimson Tide to take out some frustration on Auburn.

Pick: Alabama -21.5 (-110)
