Kansas Betting Outlook

Kansas ended a 14-year bowl drought with its six-win season. The Jayhawks last went bowling in 2008 when they beat Minnesota 42-21 in the Insight Bowl under the underappreciated Mark Mangino.

Kansas has a three-game winning streak in bowl games and is 6-6 overall.

Quarterback Jalon Daniels played a big part in Kansas’ hot start before sustaining a shoulder injury. He returned for the final two games of the regular season and completed 20 of 32 passes for 168 yards in the loss to Kansas State.

Daniels has connected on 65.7% of his 175 attempts for 1,470 yards, 13 touchdowns, and just two interceptions.

Kansas’ top rusher is Devin Neal with 1,061 yards and nine touchdowns on 171 carries. He is fifth in the Big 12 in rushing yardage.

Kansas State held Neal to 59 yards on 16 carries, though he scored twice.

Luke Grimm caught three passes for 48 yards to raise his season totals to 42 for 456 and five scores. Lawrence Arnold has 36 receptions for 597 yards and four TDs.

Kansas is 28th in the nation in scoring with 34.2 points a game but 124th in points allowed with a 33.8 average. The Jayhawks are allowing an average of 451.7 total yards, which ranks 126th.

Wide receiver Steven McBride and cornerback Jarrett Paul will miss the game after entering the transfer portal.

Arkansas Betting Outlook

Wide receiver Jadon Haselwood is one of a contingent of Arkansas players who will miss the game. He has decided to prepare for the NFL Draft after having 59 receptions for 702 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Linebackers Drew Sanders and Bumper Pool are also opting out to get ready for the draft. Backup quarterback Malik Hornsby entered the transfer portal along with wide receiver Chase Lowery and defensive back Myles Slusher.

Arkansas still has dual-threat quarterback KJ Jefferson, who has amassed 2,871 yards of total offense this season.

Jefferson has thrown for 2,361 yards and 22 touchdowns while completing 68.3% of his 271 passes with just four being picked off. He has also rushed for 510 yards and seven touchdowns.

Jefferson is fourth in the SEC in touchdown passes and was 20-of-27 passing against Missouri for 212 yards and two scores with one pick.

Meanwhile, Raheim Sanders is second in the conference in rushing with 1,426 yards. He has carried 219 times and has 10 touchdowns but ran just 10 times for 47 yards in the regular season finale.

Matt Landers’ seven TD receptions rank fourth in the SEC. In all, he has 44 catches for 780 yards. He had four receptions for 79 yards and one touchdown versus Missouri.

Arkansas is averaging 453.8 total yards a game and allowing 453.1. The Razorbacks are 26th in the FBS in total offense and 128th in total defense.

Arkansas has won in four of its last five bowl appearances, including beating Penn State 24-10 in the Outback Bowl a year ago. Overall, the Razorbacks are 16-24-3 in bowl games.

Kansas vs Arkansas Prediction

Kansas rolled to a 37-5 victory when the schools met 116 years ago.

More recently, the Jayhawks are happy to be going bowling after being picked to finish last in the Big 12 at the start of the season. Meanwhile, Arkansas has had a disappointing year after beginning the season ranked #19.

Despite its poor finish, Kansas seemingly has more motivation than the Razorbacks.

Pick: Kansas +3 (-115)
