  • The Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers both are facing tough games in Week 7 of the CFB season
  • Georgia will try again to cover as a 30+ point favorite; this time vs Vanderbilt
  • These Week 7 College Football betting trends are revealed in the following story

A little over a year ago, something odd occurred involving the two best college football teams in the state of Alabama.

Both the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers lost on the same day. On Oct. 9, 2021, the Texas A&M Aggies beat #1 ranked Alabama 41-38. Meanwhile, on the same day, the #2 ranked Georgia Bulldogs were handling the Auburn Tigers 34-10.

It was the first time since 2015 that both of Alabama’s most famous football schools were on the wrong side of a final score on the same day. But you know what hasn’t happened in 15 years? That would be Auburn and Alabama losing games on the same day of the season two seasons in a row.

Could this be the week that streak ends? Auburn is going to Ole Miss as 14.5-point road underdogs. It won’t be any surprise should the Rebels put a whipping on the Tigers. At the same time, #3 Alabama (6-0) is facing #6 Tennessee (5-0) in a battle of unbeatens.

Here are all the college football betting trends you need to know for Week 7.

Tigers Will Tumble At Ole Miss

Losers of their last two games, Auburn is 1-2 in the SEC and 3-3 overall. Facing #9 Ole Miss (6-0) on the road as more than two-touchdown underdogs in the CFB odds, another Tigers loss is certainly looking to be in the cards. Of course, adding a fourth setback to the pile will ramp up the speculation about the future of Auburn coach Bryan Harsin, who already seems to be working the sideline on game day with his neck in a noose.

Last week, Auburn fell 42-10 at #1 Georgia, and it was the Bulldogs who were playing a central role the last time Auburn and Alabama were losing games on the same day in successive seasons. On November 10, 2007, Georgia squashed Auburn 45-20. The same day, Alabama stumbled to a 17-12 setback at the hands of Mississippi State.

The year prior, the double defeats came on November 11, 2006. Again it was Georgia beating the Tigers, this time by a 37-15 count. LSU doubled the Crimson Tide 28-14.

Can Vols Turn The Tide?

In what can certainly be billed as the college football game of the week during Week 7, Alabama is going to Tennessee as 7-point road favorites. The Tide are 4-2 against the spread this season, while the Volunteers are 4-1 ATS.

It’s been 16 years since Tennessee got the better of Alabama on a football field. On October 21, 2006, the Vols took a 16-13 decision over the Tide. Alabama is 15-0 straight up and 11-4 ATS in 15 games since between the two schools.

If ever there was a Tennessee team looking capable of ending that skid, this one would be it. Volunteers QB Hendon Hooker is a top-five contender in the Heisman Trophy odds. Bettors are looking seriously at Tennessee’s chances. The spread on this game opened at Alabama -8.5.

Thirty Doing Bulldogs Dirty

In radio code, a 20 is your location and 30 means assistance needed. In the case of the Georgia Bulldogs, they’ve been unable to 20 any success whenever oddsmakers are handing them a spread of 30+ points this season, and are certainly looking for 30 when confronted with these massive spreads.

Three times this season, the top-ranked Bulldogs were 30+ point favorites. Georgia is 0-3 ATS in those three games.

The Bulldogs beat Samford 33-0 as 53-point favorites. They dropped Kent State 39-22 as the 45-point chalk. And Georgia barely got past Missouri 26-22 as a 30.5-point pick.

This week, Georgia is a 38-point favorite as the Bulldogs welcome the visiting Vanderbilt Commodores to Athens, Ga. Last season, the Bulldogs won 62-0 at Vanderbilt as 36-point favorites. Since that victory, Georgia has gone 1-5 ATS as a favorite of 30+ points.
