No team is favored by more points than #2 Alabama, who were seconds away from being upset by #21 Texas in Week 2. The threat of an outright loss against UL Monroe is not something Crimson Tide fans will have to worry about this week, and Bama backers have been out in full force at the betting windows so far.

UL Monroe versus Alabama Spread

67% of the against the wagers as of Friday morning are backing Alabama as -49.5 point favorites. 63% of the ATS money is also coming in on the Crimson Tide, who covered a 42-point spread in Week 1 versus Utah State.

Covering six and seven touchdown lines, however, hasn’t exactly been a staple for Nick Saban teams during his tenure. Under Saban, Alabama is just 6-12-1 against the spread versus non-Power 5 teams since 2012.

Still, the fact that 37% of the against the spread tickets are on UL Monroe is surprising. This is the same team who was blasted 52-10 by the Longhorns, failing to cover as 37.5 point underdogs in Week 1.

Purdue vs Syracuse Spread

As for the smallest spread on the board, that belongs to the Purdue versus Syracuse matchup. The Boilermakers opened up as a 1 point favorite, but that line has done a complete 180.

The 2-0 Orange are now favored by 1.5, although money has come flooding in on Purdue since it moved to an underdog. 77% of the ATS wagers and 73% of the handle is currently backing the Boilermakers. If that continues, this game could wind up a pick’em.

Fresno State vs USC Total

If you like offense, you might want to stay up for Pac-12 after dark on Saturday. #7 USC hosts Fresno State, in a battle of two very high-scoring teams.

The Trojans are tied for second in the nation in scoring this season, averaging 53.5 points per outing. Last week they hung 41 points on Stanford, after putting up 66 points in Week 1 against Rice.

The Bulldogs meanwhile, have scored 30+ points in both of their two contests. No wonder this game carries a slate-high 74 point total.

75% of the over/under bets and 62% of the money wagered on the total so far is on over 74, meaning this total could still climb.

Nevada vs Iowa Total

If you want to avoid a slow-paced slog, keep your tv turned away from the Nevada versus Iowa contest. The two programs rank 90th and 129th in plays per game, while both rank outside the top-80 in offensive efficiency per SP+.

Their 39.5 point total is the lone over/under below 40 on the slate, and it could fall even lower. 84% of the over/under tickets written so far are on the under, as is 93% of the total money.

California vs Notre Dame Line Move

The biggest spread move of the week is a result of Notre Dame’s QB troubles. The winless Fighting Irish opened up as 17.5-point favorites over California, but that number has dropped to -11 throughout the week. The number seems to have settled though, as the against the spread handle is split directly down the middle.

The reason for the big line move is two-fold. First, Notre Dame has looked atrocious on offense so far, ranking 115th in scoring. Second, it was announced on Monday that starting QB Tyler Buchner is out for essentially the year, meaning inexperienced backup Drew Pyne is now in charge of trying to turn the program around.

Washington vs Michigan State Line Move

Last but not least, no game has seen a bigger line move to its total than the Washington versus Michigan State matchup. The over/under opened up at 47.5, and has been bet up to 56.5.

Sharp money has begun to hit the under, however, so there’s a good chance this number dips. Only 38% of the over/under bets are on under 56.5, but those wagers make up 57% of the betting handle.
