Georgia Opens As -4.5 Favorite

Georgia has opened as 4.5 point favorites over higher ranked Florida in Week 10. The Gators are 5-3-0 ATS this season, while the Bulldogs are 3-4-0. Both teams only have one loss this season, but Florida’s came against a much tougher opponent.

The Gators lost 42-28 to Joe Burrow and LSU, while the Bulldogs suffered a 20-17 upset loss in OT to South Carolina. The Tigers are currently the top ranked team in the country, while the Gamecocks are unranked.

Georgia is favored in this game due to their stout defense and strong offense. The Bulldogs rank seventh in the nation in total defense, while their offense is averaging 36 points and 471 yards per game. Florida also has a strong defense, but it was exploited for 511 total yards by LSU in Week 7.

Georgia Had Bye Week

Georgia is going to be well-rested coming into this game after having a bye in Week 9. The Bulldogs’ last outing was a 21-0 victory over Kentucky in Week 8. Georgia took advantage of it’s elite run game to rack up 235 yards on the ground vs the Wildcats. Top RB D’Andre Swift led the way with 179 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Georgia rebounded well against the Wildcats after incurring an upset loss to South Carolina the week prior. The defense held Kentucky to just 177 total yard for its second shutout of the season. QB Jake Fromm didn’t record a turnover after throwing three interceptions and losing a fumble against the Gamecocks.

Florida also off Saturday

The Gators also had a bye in Week 9 after beating South Carolina 38-27 in Week 8. QB Kyle Trask had a big outing for Florida, completing 21 of 33 passes for 200 yards and a career-high four touchdowns. The Gators rebounded after falling 42-28 to LSU the week prior.

Florida managed the win against South Carolina, but they were down 20-17 entering the fourth quarter. Both Georgia and Florida had their troubles with this South Carolina team.

Florida is dealing with some key injuries on defense, so the bye week is especially critical for them. End Jabari Zuniga and linebacker Jonathan Greenard have combined for seven sacks this season and are both currently sidelined with ankle injuries. They are expected to return for the Georgia game.

Head-to-Head History

Georgia leads the all-time series 52–43–2 and have won the last two meetings by a combined 27 points. Two of the Bulldogs current most important players played a key role in the 36-17 victory over Florida last year. QB Jake Fromm threw three TD passes, while RB D’Andre Swift sealed the victory with a 33-yard TD run late in the fourth quarter.

The two SEC rivals have been playing their games at a neutral site in Jacksonville, Florida since 1995. The Bulldogs are 9-3-0 overall at neutral site games over the last five years, while Florida holds a 5-6-0 record.

Betting Advice

The Gators have faced tougher opponents and been the more consistent team this season. I expect this line to move in Florida’s favor heading into Week 10.

Georgia has better talent on both sides of the ball and have won each of the last two meetings. The experience of QB Jake Fromm will play a major role in aiding Georgia’s offense against a solid Florida defense.

Georgia still has to face Auburn and Texas A&M this season, and I expect them to start this final stretch with a big performance against the Gators.

Wait for the line to shift more in Florida’s favor and bet the Bulldogs.
