The Cowboys were stopped inches short of the winning touchdown on a fourth-down play in the Big 12 title game last year, a loss eradicated any chance they had at the CFP Final Four.

Trends clash here. Baylor is 8-1 SU in its last nine and 8-1 ATS in it last nine at home, and the total has gone under in seven of Baylor’s last nine. Oklahoma State is 5-0 ATS  in its last five on the road and 7-1 SU in its last eight on the road.

The Cowboys are 12-2-1 ATS in their last 15, and the total has gone over in four of their last six. They are 3-1 SU and ATS after a bye since losing at home to Baylor 45-27 as a 6-point favorite in that spot on Oct. 19, 2019.

Oklahoma State on a Roll

Behind redshirt senior quarterback Spencer Sanders, Oklahoma State cruised through its first three games of the season entering the bye week.

The Cowboys are 13th in FBS in total offense at 511.3 yards per game, and Sanders has completed 65.3 percent of his passes for 916 yards and 10 touchdowns while playing just more than nine quarters in the three games. He has one interception, and both his completion percentage and efficiency rating are at career highs.

Baylor has been Sanders’ nemesis. He threw one touchdown and three interceptions in the Cowboys’ 24-14 regular-season victory at home last Oct. 2 and threw four interceptions in the Big 12 title game.

The defense has been more porous without defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, who moved to Ohio State . The Cowboys have given up 376,7 yards per game and 22.7 points per game. Central Michigan torched the Cowboys for 566 yards, 424 passing, in the Cowboys’ 58-44 win in the season opener.  The Cowboys led 58-28 with seven minutes to play.

Baylor Wins Big 12 Opener

Baylor controlled the 31-24 victory at Iowa State on Saturday, opening a 31-14 lead before the Cyclones scored twice in the final 7.5 minutes to make it look close.

Quarterback Blake Shapen threw for 238 yards and three touchdowns and true freshman Richard Reese had 79 of Baylor’s 123 rushing yards, The Bears’ defense had two interceptions and four sacks while limiting Iowa State to 66 yards rushing on 27 attempts

The Bears, who believe in a run-first, ball-control approach, had a nine-minute advantage in time of possession.

Oklahoma State vs Baylor Injuries

Baylor reserve running back Taye McWilliams missed the Iowa State game with an undisclosed injury and is questionable this week. True freshman Richard Reese has 234 yards rushing and four touchdowns the last two weeks as his role increased.

Oklahoma State has played without expected starters wide receiver Jaden Bray (arm) and tight end Blaine Green (wrist) this season. Bray was one of the most experienced receivers returning. Both are questionable.

Baylor vs OK State Expected Odds Movement

Oklahoma State grudge money will probably drive the line down, but Sanders’ difficulty against the Baylor defense is the biggest factor in this game.  There are horses for courses, and Sanders has 10 interceptions in four career games against Baylor.
