Can Florida State end Clemson’s dominance over ACC?

Although Pittsburgh pulled off a miraculous upset to take home the ACC crown in 2021, the Clemson Tigers (+190)  are the dominant force in the conference. Dabo Swinney’s Tigers have taken home 7 of the last 8 ACC Championship trophies, and will look to start another streak in 2023.

With quarterback Cade Klubnik now fully established as the starting quarterback, the Tigers boast a phenomenal array of talent. Linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. leads what could be an exceptional defensive unit into 2023. Trotter and safety Andrew Mukuba are projected to be 1st-round NFL draft picks. Additionally, the Clemson defense could see as many as eight starters drafted.

That being said, the Florida State Seminoles (+165)  may have the better football team. After all, quarterback Jordan Travis is a dual-threat star. A possible 1st-round NFL draft pick himself, Travis displays the arm talent and processing skills necessary to lead Florida State to an ACC title in 2023. With weapons Johnny Wilson and Jaheim Bell in tow, this Florida State offense could be special.

Lastly, the real sleeper in the ACC are the Louisville Cardinal (+1100). The addition of head coach Jeff Brohm and quarterback Jack Plummer should work wonders for this Cardinal’ squad. Louisville will open some eyes in the ACC in 2023.

Big Ten Championship Odds

Team Odds
Ohio State +180
Michigan +210
Penn State +500
Wisconsin +650
Iowa +1400
Minnesota +2900
Maryland +4000
Illinois +5000
Nebraska +6000
Michigan State +9500
Northwestern +10000
Indiana +10000
Purdue +10000

After two straight Big Ten Championships, the Michigan Wolverines are +210 underdogs to win the conference in 2023. Arch-rivals Ohio State lead the way in the Opening 2023 College Football Conference Championship odds at +180.

Can Michigan Pull Off the Three-peat?

Everything is kosher in Ann Arbor heading into 2023. Head coach Jim Harbaugh remains at Michigan (+210), and quarterback J.J. McCarthy enters his second year at the helm. However, one has to wonder whether the Wolverines let their best chance at a National Championship slip through their grasp last season.

The road through the Big Ten is once again a fearsome path, as Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Iowa and even Minnesota are hungry to improve their status.

Ultimately, the Ohio State Buckeyes (+180) remain the biggest threat to a Michigan Big Ten three-peat. In fact, Ohio State returns perhaps the greatest collection of skill position talent in the nation. Paired with a potentially dominant defensive unit, this Buckeyes team has the potential to dominate any football team. However, with the uncertainty surrounding the quarterback position, there’s little value in betting on Ohio State.

In all fairness to Wisconsin and Penn State, the true sleeper in the Big Ten are the Iowa Hawkeyes (+1400). Indeed, the steady hand of Michigan transfer Cade McNamara could be just what the doctor ordered for the Hawkeyes offense. With a dominant defense in tow, 2023 could be Iowa’s year.

Big 12 Championship Odds

Team Odds
Texas +115
Oklahoma +330
Kansas State +470
Texas Tech +1200
TCU +2000
Baylor +2000
UCF +4000
Iowa State +4000
Kansas +4000
Oklahoma State +6000
Cincinnati +7000
Western Virginia +7000
Houston +8000
BYU +10000

Texas enters 2023 as heavy +115 favorites in the Big 12. While the Oklahoma Sooners have the second-best odds at +330.

Texas Forever

Is Texas back? After Steve Sarkisian’s men impressed in 2022, much will be expected of the Longhorns entering the 2023 season.

Led by quarterback Quinn Ewers(and Arch Manning!), the Longhorns enter this season with the most talent they’ve had in years. Weapons Xavier Worthy and Ja’Tavion Sanders will make the Texas offense explosive and fun to watch.

Moreover, the Longhorns defense should only improve in 2023, as Sarkisian’s first year of recruits mature. Defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat should dominate, and has a chance to be a top-50 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

While Kansas State and Baylor stand out as sleepers in the CFB Conference Championship odds, beating Texas to become Big 12 conference champions in 2023 will be a herculean task. After watching last year’s Texas tape, Quinn Ewers is a phenomenal talent with the potential to vault himself into the top 5 picks of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Pac-12 Championship Odds

Team Odds
USC +200
Oregon +310
Washington +430
Utah +470
Oregon State +900
UCLA +1600
Washington State +3000
California +7500
Arizona State +8500
Stanford +10000
Arizona +10000
Colorado +10000

Lincoln Riley’s USC Trojans head into 2023 as the favorites to with the Pac-12 at +200 odds. While Oregon follows at +310 odds.

Will USC win the Pac-12?

With Heisman winner Caleb Williams, and head coach Lincoln Riley in tow, the USC Trojans are the favorites to win the Pac-12. Moreover, the Trojans are one of the favorites to win it all in the latest National Championship odds.

Williams is in complete control of what the Trojans look to accomplish on offense, and the sky is the limit for this attack in 2023.

While it will be a long winding road to a Pac-12 Championship for the Trojans, the conference could come down to a November 11th match-up at Oregon (+310). Moreover, the Utah Utes (+470) will be a threat to take home their third straight Pac-12 title in 2023.

SEC Championship Odds

Team Odds
Georgia +105
Alabama +220
LSU +600
Texas A&M +1200
Tennessee +1700
Mississippi +4500
Auburn +7500
Mississippi State +7500
Florida +8500
Arkansas +9500
South Carolina +9500
Vanderbilt +10000
Missouri +10000
Kentucky +10000

As expected, the reigning two-time National Champion Georgia Bulldogs enter 2023 as +105 favorites in the SEC. While rivals Alabama are chasing at +220 in the Opening 2023 College Football Conference Championship odds.

Can the Georgia Bulldogs create a dynasty?

Kirby Smart has created a behemoth in Athens. Still, the two-time defending national champion Bulldogs will go through a transition period in 2023.

Either Carson Beck or Brock Vandagriff will take over for the departed Stetson Bennett at the pivot. While much younger, unproven talent will fill it at key positions. Regardless, the Bulldogs return so much talent on the offensive and defensive lines, along with all-world tight end Brock Bowers, that it’s tough to envision anyone in the SEC keeping pace.

While Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide will go through some of the same roster turnover, there really isn’t any value in betting on another team in the SEC. Either Georgia or Alabama will take home the SEC Conference Championship and maybe a whole lot more silverware in 2023. Book it.
