Utah Betting Trends

Cam Rising and the Utah Utes will be a tough out in the Pac-12 Championship game.

Although the Utes are 9-3, this offense is as good as any in the nation. Averaging nearly 40 points per game, the Utes have been nearly unstoppable all year long. Rising has thrown for 2,629 yards and 22 touchdowns with just 7 interceptions on the year. As you’ll recall, Utah’s offense put up 562 total yards of offense in the first matchup with USC.

Tight end Dalton Kincaid has been Rising’s safety blanket all year. The 5th-year senior has put up 66 catches, 850 yards and eight touchdowns. Most importantly, Kincaid dominated the previous matchup vs USC, catching 16 passes for 234 yards and a touchdown. Unfortunately, the Utes tight end was injured while catching a touchdown against Colorado last week and his status for Friday’s game is up in the air. Thankfully, Utah head coach Kyle Wittingham passed along some great news in Tuesday’s press conference, stating that Kincaid was on the right track to play in the Pac-12 championship game.

Regrettably, the Utes are 0-4 against the spread in their last 4 matchups against a team with a winning record. Utah will have to turn that trend on its nose to come away with the victory on Friday night.

USC Betting Trends

The stakes could not be higher for Lincoln Riley’s charges entering Championship week. Win and the Trojans are in the College Football Playoff for the first time. Lose and Caleb Williams and co. will most likely sit at home licking their wounds until August.

Riley’s first season in Southern California has been even better than expected. USC has exploded out of the gates, scoring over 42 points per game and playing opportunistic defense throughout the season.

Heisman trophy favorite Caleb Williams leads the Trojans in their push for the program’s first national championship since 2005. The sophomore signal-caller has been transcendent this season. Williams has racked up the numbers in Lincoln Riley’s offense, tossing for over 3,700 yards and 34 touchdowns.

On the other side of the football, USC’s opportunistic defense has consistently put the team in a position to succeed. The Trojans now lead the nation in both turnover margin (+22) and points off turnovers (+114). Look for USC’s unrelenting pass-rush to hit home on Friday night.

Utah vs USC Prediction

There’s no way USC can lose this Pac-12 Championship game, right? While the underdog is 4-0 against the spread in the last four Utah vs USC games played, we’re playing the total here.

After all, the over has hit in 6 of the past 8 matchups. Additionally, the over has hit in all six of the Trojans’ previous games. It’s the Pac-12, bet the over.

Pick: Utah vs USC OVER 66.5 points (-114)
