- Sportsbooks are offering a series of prop bets on Friday’s second round of the NFL Draft
- A defensive player is favored to be the first selection of the round two
- The O/U on draft position for Missouri QB Drew Lock is 39.5
Is Missouri QB Drew Lock a lock to go quickly in Friday’s second round of the NFL Draft? Will offense or defense be served first when the picks start going up on the board? And when will West Virginia’s Will Grier hear his named called?

These and other questions are available for wagering purposes among the many prop bets being offered at sportsbooks on Round 2 of the NFL Draft.
Offense or Defense First in Round 2?
The Arizona Cardinals are first up again on Day 2 of the NFL Draft. They went offense to start the opening round. As expected, the Cardinals claimed Oklahoma’s Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Kyler Murray first overall.
Will the Cardinals opt to shore up the other side of the ball in Round 2, or will they stay on the offensive?
Odds on First Pick of Round 2
Will First Pick of Round 2 Be Offense or Defense? | Odds |
---|---|
Defense | -150 |
Offense | +110 |
*Odds taken on 04/26/19
Most mock drafts view the top-two prospects left on the as offensive players. Florida’s Jawaan Taylor is considered the best right tackle in this draft class. Teams may have shied away from him in the first round because of a knee issue.
#Gators RT Jawaan Taylor played in every game the last 3 seasons, yet 22 teams and counting have passed on him because of an offseason injury.
If that isn't the NFL Draft in a nutshell, not sure what is.

If it’s not Taylor, the thinking is that the first player to be selected will be Mississippi wide receiver DK Metcalf. His physical attributes might be the best of any wideout available in this draft. Metcalf’s route running is viewed as substandard.
Faster than Julio Jones.
Jumps higher than OBJ.There is only one @dkmetcalf14 🤫

Last year, the Cleveland Browns opened Round 2 by selecting Nevada tackle Austin Corbett. That pick ended a three-year run of defensive players launching the second round.
The Pick: Offense (+110)
Who Will Be the Next CB Drafted?
They might not be the best players left in the draft, but cornerbacks certainly have cornered the market on the best names available.
Greedy Williams locked down receivers at LSU – including when he he matched up against DK Metcalf a season ago.

There’s LSU’s Greedy Williams, or perhaps Temple’s Rock Ya-Sin.
Odds on First Cornerback Selected in Round 2
Who Will Be the First CB Drafted in Round 2? | Odds |
---|---|
Byron Murphy | -125 |
Greedy Williams | +110 |
Rock Ya-Sin | +300 |
Lonnie Johnson | +1000 |
The Oakland Raiders (35), Seattle Seahawks (37), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (39) and Buffalo Bills (40) could all use help at this position.

We’ll go with the Raiders grabbing the first CB at no. 35. And we’ll go for the price. They will select Kentucky’s Lonnie Johnson.
The Pick: Lonnie Johnson (+1000)
Which WR is the Best Catch?
We’ve already mentioned the possibility of Metcalf going to the Cardinals at no. 33, but another wideout to consider in play early is South Carolina’s Deebo Samuel.
I would bet on Deebo Samuel 100 times out of 100 pic.twitter.com/yUm1X5yWka

He caught 11 TDs last season and turned in a solid performance in the Senior Bowl.
Odds on First Wide Receiver Selected in Round 2
Who Will Be the First WR Drafted in Round 2? | Odds |
---|---|
DK Metcalf | -110 |
AJ Brown | +120 |
Deebo Samuel | +500 |
Parris Campbell | +500 |
Mississippi’s AJ Brown opened a lot of eyes at the NFL Combine and could be a sleeper to watch.
The Pick: DK Metcalf (-110)
Who Will Lock in on Drew Lock?
There was strong speculation that Mizzou QB Lock would be a first-day selection but he was still waiting to be called as Round 1 ended.
ESPN projections say Drew Lock has the best chance to be a starter and pro bowler in this draft class. #Mizzou #NFLDraft pic.twitter.com/2uaXBPuwrt

He might wait a bit tonight as well.
Over/Under Draft Position: Drew Lock
Over/Under Drew Lock’s Draft Position | Odds |
---|---|
Over 39.5 | -150 |
Under 39.5 | +110 |
The Denver Broncos are high on Lock and would love to grab him with the 41st-overall pick.
The Pick: Over 39.5 (-150)
When Will Will Grier Be Gone?
Every year, there’s a player who is kind of the X-factor of the draft. You just can’t be certain when he’ll go. This year, that guy looks to be West Virginia QB Grier.
Will Grier's running of West Virginia’s air raid offense was a masterclass ✈️

Some mock drafts have him going early in Round 2. Others have him sliding right out of the round.
Over/Under Draft Position: Will Grier
Over/Under Will Grier’s Draft Position | Odds |
---|---|
Over 52.5 | -120 |
Under 52.5 | -120 |
Proponents point out he has NFL size and similarities to Baker Mayfield in style. Critics see Grier as a product of West Virginia’s system and recall his one-year NCAA suspension for a positive performance-enhancing drug test.
The Pick: Over 52.5 (-120)
An Omen for Damien Harris?
When you consider how well Eddie Lacy and Derrick Henry turned out, perhaps taking an Alabama running back in the second round isn’t a bad idea.
Someone convince me why Damien Harris should be a top-75 pick. I just don't see it.
The lack of speed is concerning. I don't think he's overly quick or explosive.
And he's not a dynamic receiver by any means.
What am I missing?

But Round 2 seems a reach for Damien Harris
Over/Under Draft Position: Damien Harris
When Will Damien Harris be Picked in Round 2 of NFL Draft | Odds |
---|---|
Over 56.5 | -140 |
Under 56.5 | +120 |
Expect Harris to wait until Saturday to hear his name called.
The Pick: Over 56.5 (-140)
