The Cleveland Browns, who haven’t won a division title since 1989, will try to take a step toward ending that drought when they host the Baltimore Ravens at 1:00 p.m. ET Sunday at First Energy Field.

The Browns (6-6) are tied for last place in the crowded AFC North standings with the Pittsburgh Steelers (6-6-1). The Ravens (8-4) are on top, just ahead of the Cincinnati Bengals (7-5).

Thus, Cleveland desperately needs a win if it is to catch Baltimore. The Browns lost two of their last three games then had their bye last week while the Ravens dropped a 20-19 decision at Pittsburgh last week.

The Browns are favored in a game that will be televised by CBS.

The underdog Ravens are getting 65% of both the handle and overall bets. The weather forecast calls for 45 and sunny with winds from the southeast at 11-13 mph.

Ravens Offense vs Browns Defense

The Ravens have scored 17 points or less in five of the last six games as opponents have been slowing down quarterback Lamar Jackson by frequently using blitzes.

Jackson was sacked seven times by the Steelers last week. He completed 23 of 37 passes for 252 yards and one touchdown with one interception and rushed for 55 yards on eight carries.

Jackson hasn’t been getting much help.

Defenses have taken down Jackson a total of 21 times over the last five games. This week, the Ravens must find a way to slow down defensive end Myles Garrett, whose 14 sacks are a Browns’ single-season record.

The Ravens would like to get wide receiver Rashod Bateman more involved in the offense. He did not have a catch against the Steelers and was targeted only once.

Browns Offense vs Ravens Defense

The Browns also faced the Ravens in their previous game two weeks ago and never established the running game in a 16-10 loss at Baltimore. Cleveland managed just 40 yards on 17 carries and eventually decided to turn the game over to quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Nick Chubb was limited 16 yards on eight carries. Kareem Hunt ran eight times for just 20 yards.

Chubb couldn’t blame his low yardage total on cold weather.

Mayfield wasn’t great as he completed less than half his passing attempts. He was 18 of 37 for 247 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions.

The Ravens lead the NFL in rushing defense but look for the Browns to somehow find a way to get the ball to Chubb.

Ravens vs Browns History

The Ravens have won four straight games against the Browns and 11 of the last 14 in the series.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh has a 23-4 record against the Browns, including 11-2 in Cleveland. The only coach with more wins is Hall of Famer Chuck Noll, who went 25-21 when he was with the Steelers.

Ravens vs Browns Injury Report

The Ravens’ Marlon Humphrey sustained a pectoral injury last week. He joins fellow cornerback Marcus Peters on the season-ending injured reserve list.

Offensive lineman Patrick Mekari (hand) has been ruled out for the Ravens. Wide receiver Miles Boykin (finger) is doubtful while cornerbacks Anthony Averett (knee), Brandon Stephens (shoulder) and Chris Westy (thigh) are questionable along with tight end Nick Boyle (illness, knee), safeties Anthony Levine (knee) and Brandon Stephens (shoulder) and fullback Patrick Ricard (back).

The Browns have three players on the COVID-19/reserve list: tight end David Njoku, linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. and punter Jamie Gillan.

Ravens vs Browns Prediction

While the Ravens have been struggling to score, the Browns are also having their offensive troubles as they have put up 17 points or less in six of their past seven games.

It is hard to deny Harbaugh’s record against Cleveland and the fact that, despite last week’s loss, Baltimore is 6-2 in one-possession games. Look for the Ravens to win another close contest.
