A massive AFC tilt goes down tonight in the Meadowlands, as the Jets host the Jaguars. Jacksonville controls its own destiny in the AFC South and can ensure a division title with three straight wins to close out the season.

New York on the other hand, is on the outside of the playoff picture looking in after three straight defeats. The Jets need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, but bettors are not putting much faith in them according to the Jaguars vs Jets public betting splits.

Zach Wilson will make his second straight start for the injured Mike White, and appears to be slightly undervalued in the props market. As a result, he’s the first target in our Jaguars vs Jets same-game parlay, followed by his budding star teammate Garrett Wilson.

This Jaguars vs Jets same-game parlay features only three legs but pays out +300 odds if it hits. Wilson threw for over 300 yards in a losing effort last week and should be able to at least eclipse the 175-yard mark against this weak Jags pass defense.

Zach Wilson 175+ Passing Yards

The argument against Wilson here is simple. He’s drastically underperformed this season, and the weather does not appear to be in his favor. Wilson ranks 64th in passing grade per Pro Football Focus this season and has the third-highest turnover-worthy play percentage among QBs with at least four starts.

It’s expected to be cold and extremely windy on Thursday night, which should lead to a more run-heavy script. But here’s the thing: you don’t beat Jacksonville by rushing the ball, you have to attack them through the air.

The Jags rank 32nd in pass defense per DVOA compared to 14th against the run. For everything going against Wilson, he does have one thing working for him and that is arm strength. It’s what wowed scouts during the draft process and what likely led to him being selected too high.

Also, Wilson has proven he’s not scared to let it rip. He’ll throw into coverage and he’ll throw it deep. In fact, his yards per attempt are higher than such stars as Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Trevor Lawrence and Aaron Rodgers among others.

Garrett Wilson Over 54.5 Receiving Yards

When (Zach) Wilson does chuck it, expect Garrett Wilson to be on the receiving end. The stud first-year wideout has emerged as the favorite for offensive rookie of the year, hauling in four catches for 98 yards with Zach under center last week.

Garrett Wilson Stats – Last 4 Games

REC TGT YDS TD
4 9 98 0
6 7 78 0
8 15 162 0
5 8 95 2

(Garrett) Wilson has now eclipsed 75 receiving yards in four straight games, and in seven of his past eight contests overall. He’s averaging over seven targets per contest during that stretch, and if he sees that kind of volume against Jacksonville he’s going to smash against the league’s 28th-ranked coverage unit. Consider him a buy in the Jaguars vs Jets player props.

One of our experts meanwhile, is on Jacksonville in the Jaguars vs Jets picks, and if that game script comes to fruition there will be even more opportunity for (Garrett) Wilson in comeback mode.

Trevor Lawrence 15+ Rushing Yards

While throwing against Jacksonville has led to success this year, the opposite can be said about trying to attack New York through the air. The Jets rank sixth in pass defense per DVOA, and fourth in passing yards allowed.

They have been vulnerable against the run, however, especially versus mobile quarterbacks. New York has faced three quarterbacks with a high rushing prowess (Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen twice, and Jacoby Brissett). Those three have put up an average of 48 rushing yards per game.

Lawrence isn’t as much of a scrambler as they are, but he does have a sneaky rushing upside. He’s run for at least 20 yards in six of his past 10 starts and averages 5.0 yards per carry this season.

His starting left tackle Cam Robinson is out per the Jaguars vs Jets injury report, which will likely mean his pocket will break down earlier forcing him to use his legs more to make plays.
