- In this week’s NFL betting roundup, the New York Giants were again the kings of overcoming
- The Chicago Bears re-established their NFL dominance
- In Washington, the Commanders won without Carson Wentz, but it wasn’t in prime time
Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers may have seven NFL MVPs to their name, but this week’s NFL betting roundup is showing us that Daniel Jones of the New York Giants has won as many games this season as Brady and Rodgers combined.
The Chicago Bears won a huge game on MNF in their 33-14 triumph over the New England Patriots. But you probably don’t recognize just how huge it was.
And who knew that New York Jets running back Breece Hall comes with a money-back guarantee?
Meanwhile, a DraftKings Sportsbook bettor who believed in Taylor Heinicke and PJ Walker more than Brady or Rodgers is much wealthier for it today.
They Might Be Giants of Comebacks
The New York Giants are 6-1. That alone is astonishing, considering they haven’t won more than six games in a single season since 2016.
What’s even more impressive is how while the Giants are often down, they are almost never out. They’ve come from behind to win in all six of their victories this season.
NFL Team Trends: New York Giants Comeback Wins
Opponent | Deficit | 4Q Points | Final |
---|---|---|---|
Tennessee Titans | Down 13-0 | 8 | NYG 21 TEN 20 |
Carolina Panthers | Down 13-6 | 6 | NYG 19 CAR 16 |
Chicago Bears | Down 3-0 | 6 | NYG 20 CHI 12 |
Green Bay Packers | Down 20-10 | 14 | NYG 27 GB 22 |
Baltimore Ravens | Down 20-10 | 14 | NYG 24 BAL 20 |
Jacksonville Jaguars | Down 17-13 | 10 | NYG 23 JAX 17 |
Three times, the Giants came back from double-digit deficits to win. They trailed both the Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Ravens by 20-10 counts. Beating the Packers 27-22 and the Ravens 24-20, in each case the Giants scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns.
In their season opener, the Giants fell behind the Tennessee Titans 13-0. Then they scored 21 second-half points for a 21-20 triumph.
Bears Are Kings of NFL Hill
There were myriad reasons for the Chicago Bears to be celebrating their 33-14 MNF drubbing of the New England Patriots. Firstly, it was a much-needed win for the 3-4 Bears. And the 33 points will do wonders for the confidence of Chicago’s oft-maligned offense.
Secondly, the Bears prevented Patriots coach Bill Belichick from passing Chicago coaching legend George Halas to become the second-winningest coach in NFL history.

Thirdly, and perhaps most significant from a historical perspective, the Bears reclaimed the top spot on the NFL’s all-time win list. Monday was Chicago’s 786th victory. That’s one more than the Packers.
The Bears have held at least a share of the NFL’s all-time wins lead every day since December 3, 1921.
Winning the Show Without Carson
You beat a legend and it doesn’t even register with the oddsmakers. In the NFL Week 8 opening odds, the Washington Commanders are 4.5-point road underdogs at the Indianapolis Colts.
What, Taylor Heinecke can beat Aaron Rodgers, but not Sam Ehrlinger? XFL refugee Heinecke is replacing the injured Carson Wentz (finger) as Washington’s QB1.
Pet peeve time:
I get that it's catchy, but when people say things like "PJ Walker beat Tom Brady" or "Taylor Heinecke beat Aaron Rodgers" they do realize those players were never actually ever on the field at the same time?— Andrew Brandt (@AndrewBrandt) October 24, 2022
If Wentz isn’t back by Washington’s November 14 MNF game at the Philadelphia Eagles, there could be problems. And it has nothing to do with the Eagles being Wentz’s first NFL team.
The Carson show is a prime-time player. For instance, Wentz is 7-0 straight up in his career on TNF.
Easy Breezy Breece Hall Refunds
The New York Jets won again on Sunday, but they also lost. Star rookie running back Breece Hall is likely finished for the season after tearing his ACL.

You know who’s not going to lose, though? Anyone who placed a future book wager on Hall to be NFL OROY.
Both DraftKings and FanDuel Sportsbooks were announcing on Monday that they’d be refunding any of those wagers placed with their sportsbooks.
Believing In Taylor and PJ
Maybe you didn’t see teams with Heinecke or PJ Walker (Carolina Panthers) at QB beating Hall of Famers in waiting Rodgers and Brady. But one DraftKings bettor most certainly did.
