Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III is the new favorite for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Walker’s odds improved from +800 prior to the weekend to +200 on Monday.

New York Jets running back Breece Hall was the favorite at +245. However, he is off the board after sustaining a season-ending knee injury Sunday in a win over the Denver Broncos.

Meanwhile, Walker helped fuel the Seahawks’ upset of the Los Angeles Chargers on the road to boost his candidacy.

Kenneth Walker III New OROY Favorite

Hall’s injury has much to do with Walker becoming the new top choice in OROY odds. However, Walker helped his cause with a big game Sunday.

Walker rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries. That helped the Seahawks down the Chargers 37-23.

The second-round draft pick from Michigan State has trended upwards in recent weeks following starting running back Rashaad Penny’s season-ending ankle injury.

Walker had 88 yards against the New Orleans Saints on Oct. 9 then 97 against the Arizona Cardinals a week later. He had just 15 attempts and 55 yards through the season’s first three games.

In all, Walker has 411 yards rushing and four touchdowns on 67 carries. He also has eight receptions for 27 yards.

Sudden Fall for Breece Hall

Imaging revealed Monday that Hall has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee that knocks him out for the season. That is a tough blow for the Jets, who are off to a surprising 5-2 start.

However, some sportsbooks are softening the blow for those who bet on Hall for OROY by offering refunds.

Hall had rushed for a team-high 463 yards and four TDs in 80 carries while notching 19 receptions for 218 yards and one score.

Hall has a 62-yard touchdown run on Sunday in Denver. According to NextGen Stats, Hall reached a speed of 21.87 mph on the play, the fastest by a ball carrier in the NFL this season.

Dameon Pierce, Chris Olave Top 2022 NFL OROY Contenders

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce is the second choice for OROY at +300. With +900 odds, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave is third.

Pierce has carried 106 times for a team-best 504 yards and three touchdowns. He has added 17 catches for 82 yards.

Olave has 32 receptions for 495 yards and both figures lead the Saints. He has also caught two touchdown passes.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett was the favorite in Week 1 at +875. Though he has supplanted Mitch Trubisky as the starter in Pittsburgh, Pickett’s odds have fallen to +2000 because of his poor play.

Keep an Eye on Drake London

Walker could very well win OROY. However, Pierce also has an excellent chance as both could wind up with similar statistics by season’s end.

Thus, Walker doesn’t present much value at +200.

However, a player worth making at least a small wager on is Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London.

London leads the Falcons’ run-heavy offense with 26 receptions for 315 yards. He could be poised for a strong finish to his rookie season, especially if Atlanta switches quarterbacks and goes with rookie Desmond Ridder over Marcus Mariota.
