  • The Kansas City Chiefs were at +125 before Sunday’s win in the AFC Championship Game but are now -125 on the Super Bowl moneyline.
  • The Chiefs have trailed by double-digits in each of their last two wins.

We now know our matchup for Super Bowl LIV as the San Francisco 49ers will take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Miami. The Chiefs opened as a two-point favorite but have since shifted down to -1.5. It’s not a huge surprise as the Chiefs have been the Super Bowl favorite for the last couple of weeks now.

Chiefs Survive Another Slow Start

For a second straight game, the Chiefs started slow as they found themselves trailing the Tennessee Titans 17-7 on Sunday. For a second straight week, the Chiefs turned on the jets and blew past their opponent. This time, they outscored the Titans 28-7 the rest of the way, easily winning 35-24.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes put together another special performance, throwing for 294 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He also added 53 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. He became the first quarterback in playoff history to finish with 250+ passing yards and 50+ rushing yards in back-to-back playoff games.

Chiefs Odds Have Shortened Since Mid-December

The Chiefs Super Bowl odds have continued to shorten over the last month as they’ve benefited from the shortcomings of their opponents. First, the New England Patriots lost in Week 17, which pushed the Chiefs into the No. 2 seed, giving them a bye. Then the Baltimore Ravens lost in the playoffs, which then allowed the Chiefs to host the AFC Championship Game.

Throughout the process, the Chiefs have gone from having average odds of +633 to win the Super Bowl down to +123 this week. Now that the Super Bowl line has opened up, they’re actually favored to win the big game.

49ers Easily Dispose Of Packers

For a second straight time this season, the 49ers blew out the Green Bay Packers. The first meeting was a 37-8 win and while the second finished a bit closer at 37-20, the reality is that Green Bay wasn’t anywhere near a win in Sunday’s contest. They were trailing 27-0 at the half.

The 49ers ate the Packers run defense alive as Raheem Mostert compiled 220 yards rushing and four touchdowns. As a team, San Francisco piled up 285 on the ground. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo basically had the night off as he only threw the ball eight times.

49ers Super Bowl Odds Have Come A Long Way

The 49ers have long been at 10-1 or shorter to win the Super Bowl but it’s interesting to see how far their odds have come since the beginning of the season. San Francisco was as high as +4500 on the eve of the first Sunday but they’re now down to +105.

The 49ers were the league’s last undefeated team, which is why their odds continued to shorten by the week. From mid-October, their odds were no worse than +1000 but they’ve continued to come down as they’ve worked their way through the playoffs. It’s interesting to note that they’re still the dog on Super Bowl Sunday even though they won more games than the Chiefs.

What Are The Super Bowl Moneyline Odds?

The Chiefs are now sitting at -125 to win the Super Bowl. They’ve mostly been at +125 since the Ravens lost and were at about +350 before that. As for the 49ers, their Super Bowl moneyline is +105. They’ve been at about +150 over the last week and were between +600 and +300 since the middle of December.
