- The San Francisco 49ers are 4-point home favorites over the Cincinnati Bengals in their NFL game on Sunday, October 29
- This betting line has shortened from 49ers -4.5 since word came that San Francisco QB1 Brock Purdy was in NFL concussion protocol
- Cincinnati is 9-2 ATS as an away underdog since the start of the 2021 season. Are they are good bet in your Bengals vs 49ers picks on Sunday?
As they prepare to face the Cincinnati Bengals (3-3, 2-3-1 ATS), it’s hard to believe that a year ago, San Francisco 49ers (5-2, 4-3 ATS) QB1 Brock Purdy was best known as Mr Irrelevant. That’s the title given to the last player chosen in an NFL Draft, which Purdy was in 2022. Today, though, his relevancy is dramatically impacting the betting line for this game in the Bengals vs 49ers odds.
The Niners opened as 4.5-point home favorites in the Bengals vs 49ers odds. Since word got out that 49ers QB1 Purdy was in NFL concussion protocol, that line has shortened to San Francisco -4.

Bengals Back On Track
The Bengals once were where the 49ers are right now. At the outset of the season, Bengals QB1 Joe Burrow was nursing a calf injury and Cincinnati opened 0-2 SU. In the past two games, the 49ers are 0-2 SU and now Purdy is ailing.

The Bengals are coming into this game off their bye week and Burrow appears to be all the way back in terms of his health. Cincinnati is 3-1 SU over the past four games.
The defense has allowed more than 16 points in just one of the those three victories. Meanwhile, Burrow’s passer rating for the last two games was 108 and 88, much closer to his career average of 97.7. For the season, though, his passer rating is 79.8.
Purdy Latest Key Injury for 49ers
Already without WR Deebo Samuel (shoulder) and with the status of LT Trent Williams (ankle) uncertain, the 49ers can ill-afford to take the field without Purdy. It would be journeyman veteran Sam Darnold who’d be under center if Purdy can’t go.

Purdy did practice on Thursday and 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is confident that his QB1 will be playing on Sunday. He is reportedly 80% through the NFL concussion protocol.
Purdy threw two picks in San Francisco’s Week 7 MNF loss to Minnesota. The second came with 30 seconds to play in regulation, when it appeared as if the 49ers were driving for the winning score.
Cincinnati vs San Francisco Prediction
The Bengals are looking more like the team that’s been to the AFC Championship Game the past two seasons. Meanwhile, San Francisco has lost two in a row for the first time with Purdy as QB1.
Both of these teams are among the NFL elite. San Francisco is 17-3 SU over the past 20 games and 13-5 ATS through the last 18 games. Cincinnati is 13-4 SU in the last 17 games.
The Bengals are getting four points and considering San Francisco’s injury situation, taking those four points seems like the wise move.
