  • The Baltimore Ravens are 8.5-point favorites over the Dallas Cowboys in Tuesday’s NFL game
  • TNF betting record: 3-8-1 (-2.90 units won)
  • See all the odds below, along with analysis and our best bet for this Week 13 NFL matchup

The Dallas Cowboys haven’t played a game in 12 days. The Baltimore Ravens haven’t played a game in six days.

Yet, it’s the Ravens, the team going on short rest and riddled with COVID-19 absences, who are heavily-favored in this contest.

That, as much as anything, about sums up how 2020 is going for America’s Team.

The 6-5 Ravens are the 8.5-point home chalk over the Cowboys, who are 3-7 straight up and 2-8 against the spread this season. The opening line was favoring Baltimore by 7.5 points.

This game will be an 8:05 PM EST kickoff at M&T Bank Stadium. The forecast is calling for partly cloudy skies, 5 mph wind, and a temperature of 32 degrees.

Jackson Back In Action?

Reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson is one of 10 Baltimore players who remain on the NFL’s reserve/COVID list. However, speculation is that the Ravens will be activating their starting quarterback in time for Tuesday’s game.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh declined to say if Jackson would be playing Tuesday. He wouldn’t even acknowledge whether Jackson has practiced at all since being diagnosed with COVID-19.

However, Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman did admit that Jackson has taken part in all of the team’s virtual meetings this week in preparation for the Cowboys game.

If Jackson can’t go, Baltimore would be forced to give third-stringer Trace McSorley his first NFL start. Backup Robert Griffin III was placed on IR after suffering a hamstring injury in their Week 12 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Heading In The Wrong Direction

The Ravens were an NFL-best 14-2 last season. They’ve already been eliminated from contention for the AFC North title this season.

Baltimore is 1-4 over the past five games. The Ravens are on the outside looking in when it comes to one of the three AFC Wild Card playoff positions.

Despite playing in the NFL’s worst division, the Cowboys own the NFC’s worst record. At that, Dallas is still just 1.5 games out of first place in the woeful NFC East.

The Cowboys could be heading for their worst season since going 1-15 in 1989.

Injury Report

There was plenty of potentially good news for the Ravens beyond the likely return of Jackson.

Defensive end Calais Campbell (calf) returned to practice this week. The team is 0-3 without Campbell in the lineup. Running back Mark Ingram and backup DE Jahid Ward were activated from the COVID list.

Defensive tackle Brandon Williams (ankle), tackle D.J. Fluker (ankle), and free safety DeShon Elliott (knee/ankle) were all able to practice. Campbell, Williams, Fluker, Elliott, and strong safety Chuck Clark (knee) are all listed as questionable.

Dallas will be without both of the team’s starting offensive tackles. Cameron Erving (knee) and Zack Martin (calf) are out.

On defense, linebacker Aldon Smith (illness), strong safety Donovan Wilson (groin), and cornerback Anthony Brown (ribs) are all listed as questionable. Smith practiced late in the week and is expected to play.

Trend Spotting

A subtext to this game will be seeing long time Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant in action for the Ravens. He caught 531 passes for Dallas.

Dallas is 0-3 SU at Baltimore against the Ravens. The Cowboys have lost those three games by an average margin of 16.3 points per game.

It’s been 39 years and a day since Dallas won a game at Baltimore. The Cowboys beat the Baltimore Colts 37-13 on Dec. 6th, 1981.

Pick: Baltimore Ravens -8.5 (-110), 1 unit
