Since the NFL Draft, you could say that things have gone from bad to worse for the Miami Dolphins. Prior to draft day, Miami was considered the longest shot to play in Super Bowl 54. They were offered at average odds of +13800 of winning the big game.
Since the conclusion of the draft, the Dolphins have drifted further away from contention. Their average Super Bowl odds now work out to +17500.

Bloom Off the Rosen?
Miami’s biggest move during the NFL Draft was the acquisition of their quarterback of the future. They traded to get 2018 first-round draft pick Josh Rosen from the Arizona Cardinals.
Arizona took just one season to decide Rosen wasn’t the guy for them. They jettisoned him in favor of Kyler Murray, the first overall pick in the 2019 draft.

In 13 starts as a rookie, Rosen passed for 11 touchdowns and was intercepted 14 times. He completed 55.2 percent of his passes and posted a passer rating of 66.7.
Many football people believe the criticisms of Rosen are overblown. His detractors label him as someone who thinks too much about things. Proponents of Rosen view him simply as someone who isn’t afraid to speak his mind and ask questions.

Miami signed journeyman veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick, who can serve as a mentor to Rosen. New head coach Brian Flores hired ex-Colts’ and Lions’ head coach Jim Caldwell as his assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach.
Caldwell has worked with Peyton Manning, Joe Flacco and Matthew Stafford, making the playoffs with all three and winning Super Bowls with the first two.
Home Field No Advantage for Dolphins
Super Bowl 54 is slated for Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. It will be the 11th time the game is held in South Beach, a record for the big game. But don’t expect to see the Dolphins on the field.

No team has ever played in the Super Bowl on their home field and that won’t change this season. Miami isn’t making the playoffs.
A brutal schedule that opens with four successive 2018 playoff teams – the Ravens, Patriots, Cowboys and Chargers – will doom them to a dismal start. They also travel to Cleveland and Indy and face the Eagles at home.
Their Super Bowl drought will extend to 47 years.
If you’re looking for a Supe Bowl longshot play, might we suggest the Minnesota Vikings (+2500), or the Carolina Pathers (+5500)? Both of those teams are due for bounceback years.
